Job summary:

As aLead Engineerat AutogenAI, you will be responsible for the development of essential features for our AI-driven SaaS application, playing a pivotal role in defining technical strategy and mentoring our engineering team. Collaborating closely with our Designers and Product Managers, you’ll lead your team to create innovative, robust solutions that keep pace with the fast-moving and competitive landscape of AI software. This position offers tremendous growth potential, leadership exposure, and the chance to shape both the technical roadmap and the engineering culture at AutogenAI. 

What you'll be responsible for:

  • Strategic Leadership:Collaborate with Designers and Product Managers to establish the strategic direction of the engineering team, ensuring alignment with product goals and company vision. 
  • Team Mentorship and Management:Provide line management and career development for Engineers, promoting rapid growth and fostering a collaborative team culture. 
  • Product Development and Maintenance:Design, implement, and manage scalable cloud services, owning your team’s contributions to the full software development lifecycle. 
  • Operational Excellence:Lead efforts in monitoring, triaging, and resolving production issues, implementing effective recovery practices and proactive improvements. 
  • Process and Culture Building:Improve internal processes, define development standards, and contribute to a vibrant, knowledge-sharing company culture. 
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:Partner with other tech leads to identify team pain points, improve processes, and facilitate knowledge transfer across teams. 

You’ll be part of a full-stack team working with a blend of TypeScript (React, NestJS, Express) and Python, with opportunities to make contributions across our technology stack. Success in this role means balancing user needs, business goals, and technical excellence. 

 

What you'll bring to the team:

  • Leadership and Mentorship:Proven experience in guiding and developing engineering talent, with a commitment to fostering a positive, growth-oriented team culture. 
  • Product First approach:A focus on user problems and building what our users need.
  • Adaptability and Problem-Solving:Ability to navigate shifting requirements, find elegant technical solutions to meet user needs, and balance short-term goals with long-term codebase health. 
  • Strong Communication Skills:Clear, proactive communicator who thrives in a collaborative environment, effectively engaging with cross-functional teams to drive results. 
  • Technical Expertise:Proficiency with TypeScript and extensive engineering experience to guide the team and ensure high-quality contributions to development projects. 

Requirements

  • Experience:5+ years in software engineering including 2+ years in a leadership role. 
  • Line Management:Previous experience managing and mentoring developers
  • Technical Skills: Demonstrated ability to write maintainable, well-tested code; familiarity with cloud services and DevOps tools (e.g., Kubernetes, Terraform) is advantageous. 
  • Proactive Approach:Track record of driving change in companies, adopting new technologies etc.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Collaboration Experience:Experience working within a Product Trio (Engineering, Design, Product) to ensure cohesive product development. 
  • Industry Knowledge:Prior experience with AI-driven SaaS products, NLP, or LLMs.
