Why be a Lead Data Scientist at THG Beauty?

The Lead Data Scientist will be tasked with analysing and interpreting complex datasets to deliver actionable insights that drive business decisions, focusing on process improvement and performance optimization. You will be engaged in advanced statistical analysis, machine learning model development, and predictive analytics. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in data science, with a strong background in team collaboration and management. Excellent communication skills are crucial, as you'll interact with stakeholders to translate data insights into strategic recommendations. Additionally, you will work across various beauty sites, handling millions of data points from different countries and regions.

As a Lead Data Scientist, you'll:

  1. Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand business challenges and take ownership of technical solutions, identifying opportunities for value creation.
  2. Strong experience in designing and implementing robust ML frameworks.
  3. Effectively communicate model insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  4. Proven ability to develop scalable models and select the most effective one for each situation.
  5. Comfortable working independently as well as collaborating within a team.
  6. Continuously monitor and assess the performance of existing models.

What skills and experience do I need for this role?

  1. Proficiency in Python programming
  2. Hands-on experience with machine learning models (regression, classification, segmentation, time series, recommendation engines), with the ability to develop these into meaningful, actionable models
  3. Experience in deep learning techniques
  4. Experience in designing and executing A/B testing to validate models and strategies
  5. Strong SQL skills for data querying, manipulation, and model integrations
  6. Excel skills for data analysis
  7. Experience in the Retail/E-commerce industry is an added advantage
  8. 6+ years of experience in data science.
