Job Description

Carnival UK is in search of a Lead Advanced Analyst / Data Scientist to join our Insight and Data Science team, to drive commercial decision making from analysis and modelling of guest data on a 12-month fixed term basis.

Insight and Data Science is a central team guiding stakeholders to the right value-driving decisions across all areas of P&O Cruises and Cunard holidays. This includes areas such as ship deployment, entertainment, food & beverage, retail, fuel/ decarbonisation, branding, media and marketing, consumer messaging, customer experience and sales channels.

This role will be focusing predominantly on the guest experience, bridging the gap between scientific outputs and business applications, working with colleagues in the Guest Insight function (and more widely within the Insights & Data Science team) to interpret findings and communicate them clearly to non-technical stakeholders to support and influence business decisions.

Typical questions might include (but are by no means limited to):

  1. What drives the most holiday enjoyment so we can focus our efforts appropriately?
  2. How can we use historical data relating to ship refit investment and guest feedback to identify the most impactful areas to invest in the future?
  3. How are employee and guest satisfaction related, and where should we focus on improving our employee experience to enhance the guest experience?

Working with a diverse set of data from purchase transactions, guest profiling and guest feedback surveys. You will be the subject matter expert on the design, analysis, interpretation and visualisation of our customer feedback survey data to maximise meaningful insights and drive business outcomes. This role would have one direct report.

Positioned within our internal structure from CUK15 (entry level) to CUK1 (Brand President), this role is classified as a CUK06, offered as a full-time position, on a fixed term basis, we offer hybrid work including up to two days from home.

Requirements: Your Expertise and Leadership

To thrive as a Lead Advanced Analyst / Data Scientist, we're looking for:

  1. Degree in a quantitative discipline such as Operations Research, Applied Statistics, Applied Math, or a related field
  2. Strong consultation, interpretation and communication skills, able to create compelling outputs and convey complex ideas to non-technical business stakeholders
  3. Very strong analytical, statistical, and modelling skills, with experience manipulating and ‘making sense’ of data from disparate systems.
  4. Demonstrable experience within Python
  5. Ideally a background working with survey data, especially customer feedback and Net Promoter Score data

Negotiating Your AI Job Offer: Equity, Bonuses & Perks Explained

Artificial intelligence (AI) has proven itself to be one of the most transformative forces in today’s business world. From smart chatbots in customer service to predictive analytics in finance, AI technologies are reshaping how organisations operate and innovate. As the demand for AI professionals grows, so does the complexity of compensation packages. If you’re a mid‑senior AI professional, you’ve likely seen job offers that include far more than just a base salary—think equity, bonuses, and a range of perks designed to entice you into joining or staying with a company. For many, the focus remains squarely on salary. While that’s understandable—after all, your monthly take‑home pay is what covers day-to-day expenses—limiting your negotiations to salary alone can leave considerable value on the table. From stock options in ambitious startups to sign‑on bonuses that ‘buy you out’ of your current contract, modern AI job offers often include elements that can significantly boost your long-term wealth and job satisfaction. This article aims to shed light on the full scope of AI compensation—specifically focusing on how equity, bonuses, and perks can enhance (or sometimes detract from) the overall value of your package. We’ll delve into how these elements work in practice, what to watch out for, and how to navigate the negotiation process effectively. Our goal is to provide mid‑senior AI professionals with the insights and tools to land a holistic compensation deal that accurately reflects their technical expertise, leadership potential, and strategic importance in this fast-moving field. Whether you’re eyeing a leadership role in machine learning at an established tech giant, or you’re considering a pioneering position at a disruptive AI startup, the knowledge in this guide will help you weigh the merits of base salary alongside the potential riches—and risks—of equity, bonuses, and other benefits. By the end, you’ll have a clearer sense of how to align your compensation with both your immediate lifestyle needs and long-term career aspirations.
