Security of supply, EU gas matters"
at the Bonn location.

Efficient infrastructures are the lifelines of a modern society and economy. They secure Germany's future. As an independent regulatory authority, the Federal Network Agency is responsible for sustainable competition, future-proof networks and strong consumer protection.

We employ around 3,200 people in Bonn, Mainz and 44 other locations.

What does Unit 625 do?

We carry out various tasks in the area of access regulation to hydrogen and gas transportation networks, gas supply security and EU gas matters. Among other things, we develop concepts for how access to gas and hydrogen networks should be regulated and contribute to the preparation of determinations by the responsible Ruling Chamber 7 in the area of access regulation. We are also involved in shaping access regulation for gas and hydrogen storage facilities. This also includes future storage capacities for gas and hydrogen while ensuring security of supply and the corresponding monitoring of storage levels. In the area of security of supply, we monitor and ensure Germany's supply of gas and, in future, hydrogen. On the other hand, we take precautions for possible crisis situations and maintain the necessary structure. Finally, we also represent all of the aforementioned topics at EU level in various committees.

What are your tasks?

You will primarily work in the area of crisis preparedness and security of supply. This includes the ongoing maintenance and further development of existing crisis structures and the further development of crisis preparation processes:

  • You will be responsible for the maintenance and further development of a Shiny app written in the R programming language, which aggregates and processes crisis-relevant data from various sources so that we, as a federal load distributor, are able to act in the event of a crisis
  • You are responsible for technical data work in the context of crisis preparedness and occasionally analyze and process large amounts of data for this purpose
  • You keep the action alternatives up to date in the event of a crisis, communicate with internal and external stakeholders, design training courses and exercises and carry them out

Other tasks from the unit's portfolio can also be assigned. This applies in particular to demanding and independent activities in the context of data work in the area of supply security:

  • You will prepare data and identify requirements - particularly in terms of data quality and data structure - and deal with their implementation
  • You contribute to the visual preparation of data using R or Python and other suitable tools
  • You support the definition and implementation of IT security measures from a user perspective and act as an interface to the IT department

Due to the area of responsibility, an extended review (SÜ 2) is required in accordance with the Security Review Act.

Who are we looking for?

  • You have completed or are about to complete a Master's degree with 300 ECTS credits or a Diplom (university) degree in (business) informatics, administrative informatics, data science management, (business) mathematics, statistics, industrial engineering, economics, economics, business administration or a comparable subject area
  • You have several years of practical experience in agile software development with relevant programming languages such as Python, C/C++, Java, Rust, Go, JavaScript or R
  • Ideally, you have experience in working with databases, processing and visualizing large amounts of data, connecting external interfaces, structured software testing, designing software architecture and UX/UI design
  • You have a good grasp of things, the ability to think abstractly and a high level of motivation
  • You have a confident and engaging manner
  • You are a committed, reliable and flexible personality who works independently and results-oriented even under time pressure in difficult situations
  • You have good planning, assertiveness and organizational skills as well as good analytical and negotiating skills
  • You are open-minded and cooperative in a team, have experience in interdisciplinary collaboration and have strong and proven people skills
  • You have good written and verbal communication skills and good English language skills
  • You are willing to undertake business trips

What do we offer?

  • A responsible and varied job at the interface between politics, business and administration with lots of creative opportunities in a highly motivated team
  • A position with the same status up to grade A 14 of the Federal Salary Scale, provided you are already a civil servant
  • A classification according to pay group 13 TVöD; with several years of relevant professional experience, a classification up to pay group 14 TVöD is possible; the aim is to be taken on as a civil servant
  • A secure job with a permanent position
  • Employees covered by collective agreements receive an annual special payment and a supplementary pension (VBL) with employer contribution
  • Promotion opportunities up to salary group A 15 of the Federal Salary Scale or a comparable classification
  • Wide range of further training and development opportunities
  • A good working atmosphere and collegial cooperation
  • Possibility of working flexibly in terms of location and time (no core working hours, possibility of teleworking and mobile working in the home office for up to 60% of working hours)

10 AI Recruitment Agencies in the UK You Should Know (2025 Job‑Seeker Guide)

Generative‑AI hype has translated into real hiring: Lightcast recorded +57 % year‑on‑year growth in UK adverts mentioning “machine learning”, “LLM” or “gen‑AI” during Q1 2025. Yet supply still lags. Roughly 18,000 core AI professionals work in the UK, but monthly live vacancies hover around 1,400–1,600. That mismatch makes specialist recruiters invaluable—opening stealth vacancies, advising on salary bands and fast‑tracking interview loops. But many tech agencies sprinkle “AI” on their website without an active desk. To save you time, we vetted 50 + consultancies and kept only those with: A registered UK head office (verified via Companies House). A named AI/Machine‑Learning or Data practice.

Whether you’re an aspiring AI engineer, a machine learning specialist, or a data-driven software developer, staying ahead of the curve means more than just brushing up on Python. You’ll need to master a new generation of frameworks, languages, and tools shaping the future of artificial intelligence. Welcome to the AI Jobs Skills Radar 2026—your definitive guide to the emerging AI tech stack that employers will be looking for in the next 12–24 months. How to Find Hidden AI Jobs in the UK Using Professional Bodies like BCS, IET & the Turing Society

Stop Scrolling Job Boards and Start Tapping the Real AI Market Every week a new headline announces millions of pounds flowing into artificial-intelligence research, defence initiatives, or health-tech pilots. Read the news and you could be forgiven for thinking that AI vacancies must be everywhere—just grab your laptop, open LinkedIn, and pick a role. Yet anyone who has hunted seriously for an AI job in the United Kingdom knows the truth is messier. A large percentage of worthwhile AI positions—especially specialist or senior posts—never appear on public boards. They emerge inside university–industry consortia, defence labs, NHS data-science teams, climate-tech start-ups, and venture studios. Most are filled through referral or conversation long before a recruiter drafts a formal advert. If you wait for a vacancy link, you are already at the back of the queue. The surest way to beat that dynamic is to embed yourself in the professional bodies and grassroots communities where the work is conceived. The UK has a dense network of such organisations: the Chartered Institute for IT (BCS); the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) with its Artificial Intelligence Technical Network; the Alan Turing Institute and its student-driven Turing Society; the Royal Statistical Society (RSS); the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and its Mechatronics, Informatics & Control Group; public-funding engines like UK Research and Innovation (UKRI); and an ecosystem of Slack channels and Meetup groups that trade genuine, timely intel. This article is a practical, step-by-step guide to using those networks. You will learn: Why professional bodies matter more than algorithmic job boards Exactly which special-interest groups (SIGs) and technical networks to join How to turn CPD events into informal interviews How to monitor grant databases so you hear about posts months before they exist Concrete scripts, portfolio tactics, and outreach rhythms that convert visibility into offers Follow the playbook and you move from passive applicant to insider—the colleague who hears about a role before it is written down.
