Insight and Analytics Senior Manager
Role purpose:
You will play a key role in bringing Customer Insight and Analytics in-house and building a best-in-breed data analytics capability for the entire Fortnum & Mason business, helping to enable the next phase of customer and business growth.
Key areas of focus:

  • BI developer – Strong stakeholder engagement with a proven ability to gather and prioritise requirements, generate agile project plans and artefacts.
  • Marketing, ecommerce and CRM – analyse large and complex datasets and effectively communicate actionable insights whilst ensuring quality and accuracy - building ad-hoc data models as required.
  • Extensive Power BI developer and ETL skills, ideally with Dynamics 365 experience - hands-on experience with Power Apps, Power Automate, and custom Plug-ins is beneficial.
  • Optimising Power BI dashboards for performance and scalability
  • Customer insight analytics – building customer analytics models such as customer segmentation, lifetime value, product and basket analysis as well as demand and revenue/sales forecasts.
  • Advanced analytics – experience building and deploying machine and AI models, preferably in Microsoft Azure
  • Capability to scope and evaluate experiments for digital, ecommerce and CRM.
    With a focus on Customer data, you will use your strong data science and BI skillset to help us improve decision-making, increase revenue, drive operational efficiency, and delight our customers with new and improved experiences. Ultimately you will continue the evolution of the reporting and advanced analytics function from reactive to predictive and proactive.
    You will demonstrate your technical capability in being able to effectively manipulate, organise and interpret data and create valuable, easy to understand insights for stakeholders at all levels around the business.
    You will need to think big, challenge accepted practices, and influence across the organisation. You will support the Customer Engagement Director and Head of Analytics with decision making and use great communication skills to build and maintain trust with a cross-functional group of stakeholders and partners.
    You will be actively involved in the decision making and implementation of the data transformation programme.

    Customer Engagement & Online Teams, TBC, Operational Leadership Team, Management group, Executive Team
    Key accountabilities:
    Support the Head of Insight and Analytics in building a modern cloud data analytics capability built around Azure, Fabric and Power BI and Power Apps to support strategic organisation goals, helping to define the vision, principles and the required governance.
    Maintain and improve the existing reporting and analytics infrastructure to support critical business functions.
    Contribute to the design of and build data marts, data warehouse and/or lakehouse solutions.
    Contribute to the design and creation of data architecture assets and artefacts such as data dictionaries, conceptual, logical and physical data models.
    Contribute to the building of data analytics pipelines (for both data marts as well as advanced analytics/MLOps etc.)
    Produce and present insightful reports and dashboards for senior leadership, providing actionable recommendations based on data analysis.
    Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to continually enhance the analytics capabilities of the organization.
    Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making by promoting best practices and training teams around the business on analytical tools and techniques, this will include the development of new self-serve reports for teams around the business and adoption of Microsoft tools.
    Partner and provide support for teams around the business. Identify opportunities for improvement and prioritise a continuous improvement roadmap. Work with teams around the business to continue building a data-driven culture.
    Role Specific Criteria (Experience/Behaviours/Technical Ability)
  • Develop and maintain advanced Power BI dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights to stakeholders: Create and optimise DAX queries and data transformation, design and build, ensuring seamless integration between, Power App and Power BI solutions.
  • A minimum of 5 years, but ideally 8+ years’ experience in advanced analytics and BI - pred
  • Extensive experience with Power BI, including data modelling, DAX, Power Query, and dashboard/report creation.
  • Certification in Azure, Power BI, or related technologies
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Expert level proficiency to design, develop, and deploy advanced data analytics solutions using Azure, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL, Synapse – and eventually Fabric.
  • Create and manage complex data models, ensuring they align with business objectives and are optimized for performance and scalability.
  • Leverage machine learning/AI algorithms and statistical techniques to uncover insights from large, complex datasets.
  • Develop predictive models to solve business problems and drive decision-making.
  • Support the design and implementation of data architecture on Azure, ensuring it is robust, scalable, and aligned with best practices. Support the optimisation of ETL process.
  • Able to work independently with minimal guidance.
  • Knowledge and experience of querying databases with tools such as R, Python, SQL advantageous
  • Expertise in extracting and transforming raw data into usable insights – specifically using MSFT tools such as Power BI, snowflake data warehouse, Google Analytics
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, confident presenting senior management teams.
  • Experience working in cross functional project teams and leading own area.
  • Excellent analytical & problem-solving skills, able to think creatively & strategically and overcome obstacles.
  • Interest in learning about new technologies including machine learning and artificial intelligence and how it can be applied to business problems.
