Becoming an Actuarial Data Scientist is theideal opportunity to influence the usage of cutting edge advancedmachine learning technology in the insurance industry and to have avisible effect on the product roadmap of one of the world’sforemost insurtech companies. This position interacts with ourProduct, Sales, and R&D departments in various ways. As anActuarial Data Scientist, you will act as a subject matter expert,assisting the sales team to find the best use cases for Akur8’ssoftware to provide the highest value to each client’s uniquebusiness practices. Working with the Product team to recommend newfeatures that might benefit our clients, you’ll also collaboratewith our R&D team to explore new applications of machinelearning in the insurance industry. You’ll lead productdemonstrations to various audiences and oversee Akur8 proof ofconcept projects in an actuarial consultant type of role. Theseprojects will range from straightforward loss modeling to creativeuses of modeling to solve a variety of business problems.Communicating directly with client contacts such as Heads ofPricing, Heads of Product, CTOs, Actuaries, and Data Scientists,you’ll also conduct regular technical sessions to provide ad hocmodeling best practice guidance, technical training, and actuarialsupport. In addition to these technical client-facingresponsibilities, you’ll have an impact on the design of producttraining and the improvement of model development. Finally, you’llalso contribute to white papers and participate in / present atconferences to establish the leadership of Akur8 in the UK and EMEAmarkets. You’ll be attached to our London office, and occasionaltravel for business events will be required (a maximum ofapproximately one week per month). The successful candidate mustmeet each of the following criteria in order to be considered forthis position (elements in bold are things, without which, we willbe unable to consider your application): - 3-10 years experience ina P&C / General / Health insurance pricing role (as either aPricing Actuary, Actuarial Consultant or Data Scientist etc.); -IFoA credentials are preferred (but not obligatory). - A strongunderstanding of Data Science and Machine Learning techniques forpredictive modeling ; - Experience in actuarial data-drivenpredictive modeling (GLMs / GAMs) & risk analysis in a P&C/ General insurance pricing role ; - Ability to understandinsurance business imperatives and establish solutions inaccordance with them ; - Strong communication skills in order toelaborate on complex technical concepts to both technical /non-technical audiences ; - Readiness to travel when required(approximately one week per month) ; - Native-level of EnglishIMPORTANT: You must be British, a permanent resident, or possess arelevant visa which allows you to work in an unrestricted mannerfrom our London office.
