The shift pattern for this position is Monday – Thursday: 8.30am – 4.30pm Friday: 8.30am – 4.00pm

An opportunity has arisen for a Full-time band 6 Health for All Nurse within the Glasgow Specialist Children’s Services team.

As a Health for All Nurse, you will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team to identify, assess and plan the health needs for Care Experienced children & young people who are living either away from home or at home with a supervision requirement as well as for care leavers. This post holder will also support the health assessment and health education for Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking young people. The post holder will require an understanding of the health needs for these populations to ensure the provision of the service is effective, efficient, culturally sensitive and evidenced based to reduce health inequalities and promote health and wellbeing for care experienced children and young people aged between 0-19 years in the community. The post holder will work in partnership with service users, local authorities, care providers and other agencies to complete holistic health assessment. They will liaise with other services and organisations as appropriate, make onward referrals if necessary and in some circumstances escalate where there are child protection concerns. 

The post holder will function as an independent autonomous practitioner by:

virtue of in-depth knowledge expertise proficiency and experience to lead and enable the team to provide quality service.

The post holder should be aware of the experiences that Care Experienced young people and Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking young people have and should have knowledge of trauma informed practice as well as a caring, empathic and compassionate nature. Knowledge of the Promise Scotland, UNCRC and ACES is both beneficial and vital to this role.

You require to be aregistered nurse with NMC council,educated to degree levelandevidence of post registration studyrelevant to this role.IT skillsanddriving licenceis required.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
