“Project Atlantic” is a new multisided AI B2B SaaS startup, currently pre-market fit and operating in “stealth” mode focused on fundamentally reimagining two decades of third party and supply chain compliance and commerce assumptions and best practice. While initially based inside Control Risks, the intent is to have “Project Atlantic” spun out and independent at a future point. You will join a small, lean, and highly dynamic environment where creativity, passion, drive, dynamism, intellect, flexibility, and contrarian thinking will be the fundamental qualities we ask in those joining us. Given the lean nature of the team, we are seeking people who are curious to get involved in all aspects of the venture to build a common and seamless product not hindered by silos.

“Project Atlantic” builds on many decades of Control Risks experience supporting clients in complex risk environments, and in 2025 will come to life. As Head of Product, you will be part of the founding team, responsible for painting color into a black & white image of an AI-enabled future, and spearhead the discovery, design, roadmap, and roll out for a V1 product and beyond. Working closely with other founding team members, you will help define the user’s problems through customer interviews, immerse yourself in their needs and challenges, and ensure that the “Project Atlantic” product is delivered, and materially solves these problems in an innovative, beautiful and elegant way, harnessing cutting-edge AI technology, particularly large language models (LLMs) and agentic workflows, and develops long term product market fit in the process. This role requires a unique blend of strategic thinking, technical expertise, and leadership skills to bring innovative products to market in a pre-product market fit environment.

What you'll Do:

Pre-Market fit product discovery, testing & proposition leadership

  • In coordination with other Project Atlantic members and wider Control Risks staff, lead the customer discovery interview process to fully understand and immerse yourself in the customers, their problem space and underserved needs, develop personas, and then ensure Product Atlantic’s innovative fit and alignment to these issues.
  • Define value proposition based on clear customer problem understanding, and coordinate with other Project Atlantic members to clearly outline path to MVP/V1 feature set and beyond.
  • Develop wireframes and prototypes to test hypothesis and confirm customer alignment.
  • Establish KPIs and develop data-driven testing methodology/tracking metrics aligned with lean processes to ensure ongoing improvement, iteration and refinement of proposition to facilitate quality data-driven decisions.

Product Roadmap, Design & Development

  • Take ownership of Project Atlantic roadmap and vision, defining product specifications, requirements etc. Develop a clear feature set for each rollout and work with customers to test and iterate for maximum relevance and impact.
  • Take overall ownership for the successful delivery of the Project Atlantic product and ecosystem, and work closely with all Project Atlantic members to ensure its successful relevance, development, performance, and market fit.
  • Take on strategic leadership of Product team building- focused on hiring those that share our vision.
  • Have overall control of product design and elegance. We want Project Atlantic to be beautiful, consistent and minimal, and need you to lead efforts to ensure this is the case. To deliver this, support the hiring of a dedicated Product Designer early on, to focus on look, feel & UX across the customer experience and associated sub-products.
  • Work closely with Head of Technology and others to ensure successful execution of roadmap elements and wider AI agentic ambitions, ensuring exceptional client experience and satisfaction.
  • Drive a culture of automation and artificial intelligence, ensuring every process is evaluated with a view on what can be automated to enhance efficiency and innovation.
  • Work closely with growth marketing to continually look for platform-marketing ideas, opportunities, and AI-derived automations to gain early traction.
  • Work closely with the relevant stakeholders of other Control Risks digital and legal teams to ensure alignment.
  • Participate in thought leadership initiatives such as webinars, podcasts, presentations, and publications to enhance the Project Atlantic’ reputation and industry influence.
  • Develop relevant knowledge of industry trends and solutions in areas such as ABC compliance, ESG, and AI to inform product development strategies.

Governance & Resilience

  • Ensure the highest levels of product governance and resilience in Project Atlantic. This includes end-to-end documentation of product features, functionality and operations to ensure resilience in the team and day to day viability of the products.
  • Maintain comprehensive incident logs, ranking concerns, highlighting mitigation procedures, and reporting on outcomes.

Who you are:

  • Proven significant digital product leadership experience, ideally inside a SaaS startup environment, ideally supporting a multi-sided marketplace product, and ideally with experience of embedded payment processing.
  • Evidence of working inside a pre-product market fit environment, and of being flexible, cross functional, with a demonstrated ability to drive product innovation and bring products to market successfully, including hitting a range of ARR targets.
  • Ability to develop wireframes and prototypes.
  • Deep understanding of AI derived technologies, and a clear view of how they might fit into or support Project Atlantic.
  • Evidenced of your focus and obsession on beauty, elegance and simplicity in product design and UX, and an ability to manage others to help achieve this.
  • Evidence of being problem/outcome rather than solution/output focused – we are trying to solve unserved problems, not just build products.
  • Bachelor’s degree (degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field; a relevant advanced degree is preferred.)
  • Experience of FIGMA and related wireframing/prototyping tools.
  • SaaS product leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge/interest of AI derived technologies, including but not limited to Generative AI, LLMs, Agentic workflows, clarity about their application in our sector, and a deep understanding of their strengths and weaknesses and how to leverage maximum value and avoid associated pitfalls (not necessarily to an engineering or development level).
  • Highly credible with strong presentation skills.
  • Strong English-language verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable operating in a startup working environment, with the ability to build trusted internal relationships.
  • Is sensitive and responsive to individual and cultural differences, adjusting style to get the best from individuals.
  • Maintains high standards in dealing with people, is a role model and leads teams and individual performance in a consistent and professional manner.
  • Ensures sound commercial awareness applied to all solutions, harnessing margin improvement.

Negotiating Your AI Job Offer: Equity, Bonuses & Perks Explained

Artificial intelligence (AI) has proven itself to be one of the most transformative forces in today’s business world. From smart chatbots in customer service to predictive analytics in finance, AI technologies are reshaping how organisations operate and innovate. As the demand for AI professionals grows, so does the complexity of compensation packages. If you’re a mid‑senior AI professional, you’ve likely seen job offers that include far more than just a base salary—think equity, bonuses, and a range of perks designed to entice you into joining or staying with a company. For many, the focus remains squarely on salary. While that’s understandable—after all, your monthly take‑home pay is what covers day-to-day expenses—limiting your negotiations to salary alone can leave considerable value on the table. From stock options in ambitious startups to sign‑on bonuses that ‘buy you out’ of your current contract, modern AI job offers often include elements that can significantly boost your long-term wealth and job satisfaction. This article aims to shed light on the full scope of AI compensation—specifically focusing on how equity, bonuses, and perks can enhance (or sometimes detract from) the overall value of your package. We’ll delve into how these elements work in practice, what to watch out for, and how to navigate the negotiation process effectively. Our goal is to provide mid‑senior AI professionals with the insights and tools to land a holistic compensation deal that accurately reflects their technical expertise, leadership potential, and strategic importance in this fast-moving field. Whether you’re eyeing a leadership role in machine learning at an established tech giant, or you’re considering a pioneering position at a disruptive AI startup, the knowledge in this guide will help you weigh the merits of base salary alongside the potential riches—and risks—of equity, bonuses, and other benefits. By the end, you’ll have a clearer sense of how to align your compensation with both your immediate lifestyle needs and long-term career aspirations.
