Job Details

This is a 12-month contract within the public sector, based in Somerset, with hybrid working (3 days onsite per week). The pay range is provided by Talent, with actual pay based on skills and experience; discuss with your recruiter for more details.


Pay and Clearance


  • £1200 per day, inside IR35
  • Active SC Clearance required


Role Overview

Our public sector client seeks a Head of Data Science and AI to lead a team of data scientists. Responsibilities include building team capabilities, setting objectives, and ensuring successful project delivery.


Skills and Experience


  • Expertise in data science and machine learning techniques (supervised, unsupervised, deep learning); knowledge of generative AI is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of statistics, applied mathematics, and scientific analysis with proven experience in delivering organizational benefits.
  • Proficiency in exploratory data analysis and handling large datasets.
  • Experience with Machine Learning Ops and A/B testing.
  • Understanding of responsible and ethical AI practices.
  • Skills in programming languages such as Python, R, or C++.


Responsibilities


  • Delivering efficiency and customer benefits through data science and AI.
  • Strategizing on the responsible use of data science and AI for automation and insights.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to prioritize projects.
  • Operationalizing data science and machine learning solutions.
  • Leading and developing the data science team, including line management of Principal Data Scientists.
