We are looking for an experienced and strategic Head of Data Insights to lead our data analytics initiatives. This innovative leader will drive the vision for our data insights strategy, leveraging a deep understanding of data to support client engagement and business growth. The ideal candidate will have over 7 years of experience in data analysis and management and be skilled at transforming data into actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and lead a new global insights function connecting customer insights, market research and data analytics.
  • Oversee data analysis from diverse sources, identifying connections and trends to inform business strategies.
  • Spearhead exploratory data analysis initiatives to uncover patterns, anomalies, and insights supporting strategic decision-making.
  • Lead market research initiatives to identify emerging trends, customer behaviors, and competitive positioning, and translate findings into comprehensive reports and presentations.
  • Develop and publish periodic trend reports, highlighting actionable insights for stakeholders across the organization and driving thought leadership in the industry.
  • Ensure exceptional clarity in master data descriptions, making them comprehensible for stakeholders.
  • Design and implement predictive models, including churn prediction and revenue forecasting, to guide strategic business decisions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data insights into broader business strategies and operational processes.
  • Mentor and develop junior analysts, fostering a culture of learning and innovation within the team.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in data analysis with an extensive background in data management practices.
  • Proficient in data analytics tools and programming languages (Python, SQL, R, etc.) and experience with relevant machine learning libraries.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities, with an ability to manage complex data sets.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of presenting insights and data narratives effectively to diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience with business intelligence tools and data visualization platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience in predictive modeling and analytics.
  • Ownership: Track record of driving and delivering complete, high quality solutions to problems independently.
  • Experience mentoring junior team members.

Hiring managers do not start by reading your CV line-by-line. They scan for signals. This guide breaks down what hiring managers typically look for first in AI applications in the UK market, how to present it on your CV, LinkedIn & portfolio, and the most common reasons strong candidates get overlooked. Use it as a checklist to tighten your application before you click apply.

The Skills Gap in AI Jobs: What Universities Aren’t Teaching

Artificial intelligence is no longer a future concept. It is already reshaping how businesses operate, how decisions are made, and how entire industries compete. From finance and healthcare to retail, manufacturing, defence, and climate science, AI is embedded in critical systems across the UK economy. Yet despite unprecedented demand for AI talent, employers continue to report severe recruitment challenges. Vacancies remain open for months. Salaries rise year on year. Candidates with impressive academic credentials often fail technical interviews. At the heart of this disconnect lies a growing and uncomfortable truth: Universities are not fully preparing graduates for real-world AI jobs. This article explores the AI skills gap in depth—what is missing from many university programmes, why the gap persists, what employers actually want, and how jobseekers can bridge the divide to build a successful career in artificial intelligence.
