This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead transformative data initiatives in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Strategy

  • Own the delivery of all client deliverables where data-is-the-product, including our cutting-edge marketing audiences
  • Define and execute the company’s data strategy, aligning with overall business objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and execute on roadmaps for data engineering, MLOps, and data science.
  • Champion the use of data to inform decision-making across the organization

Team Development

  • Build, grow, and lead a high-performing data team spanning analysis, data engineering, and data science.
  • Mentor team members, fostering professional growth and cultivating a collaborative culture.
  • Develop internal processes, best practices, and training programs to maintain high team performance.

Technical Contribution

  • Support the team in designing and deploying scalable data systems in cloud environments, particularly AWS.
  • Guide efforts to process and analyze semi-structured and unstructured data, including text-based datasets.
  • Lead initiatives around machine learning and MLOps, ensuring adherence to best practices.

Requirements and skills

  • Proven experience in leading data teams and managing data initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills, with experience hiring and building high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for seamless collaboration across teams and with clients.

Technical

While this is predominantly a leadership role, familiarity with the following is highly beneficial:

  • Cloud-based data engineering, particularly AWS (Spark on EMR, Athena, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Workflow orchestration tools (eg Luigi, Airflow).
  • Processing semi-structured and unstructured data, especially text-based data.
  • Comfortable using the Python DS ecosystem (Pandas, NumPy, Jupyter, Seaborn etc) to perform analysis work and build lookalike models
  • Knowledge of MLOps engineering and best practices

Nice to haves

  • Experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP), including deploying Large Language Model-based solutions in production environments
  • Familiarity with modern marketing techniques, in particular digital advertising and B2B
