Job Purpose

Betfred are seeking a Head of Data who will help transform us into a truly data-driven organisation. This pivotal role will be responsible for developing and executing global data strategies that align with the business objectives and position us as leaders in the industry.

To support this, we need our new Head of Data to lead a unified data management team consisting of Data Engineers and DBAs, breaking down silos and ensuring the availability, integrity, security, and optimal use of data to drive customer insights, operational excellence, and strategic decision-making

Job Duties

Data Strategy: Define and execute a comprehensive data strategy aligned with Betfred's business goals and technology roadmap. Data Architecture: Design and oversee an integrated data architecture that supports both real-time operational needs of customer-facing platforms and the analytical requirements of the data warehouse. Ensure scalability, performance, and security. Drive Innovation: Proactively explore and champion modern database and analytics technologies to optimise technology platform performance and unlock new use cases. Cultural Transformation: Lead the charge in building a data-driven culture across Betfred, promoting data literacy, and ensuring data is leveraged effectively in decision-making. Data Warehousing: Lead the development and maintenance of the data warehouse, working closely with business stakeholders to model data structures, ETL processes, and reporting solutions that empower data-driven decision-making. Platform Data Management: Collaborate with platform development teams to ensure seamless integration of data, optimized data flows, and robust data quality within the customer-facing platform. Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing data management team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with business units (., marketing, product, compliance) and technology teams to understand their data needs, translate requirements, and champion data-led initiatives

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Desirable bachelor's or master’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Information Systems, or related field. Strong experience leading data teams, including experience with both database administration and data warehousing. Deep expertise in database technologies, both relational (SQL) and potentially NoSQL solutions. (MongoDB, MariaDB, SQL Server and cloud database services) Strong understanding of cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, Proven track record in designing and implementing robust data architectures. Experience with ETL tools, data modeling, and data visualization. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to bridge technical and business domains. Experience in the gaming or similar industry. Familiarity with data privacy regulations (GDPR, Knowledge of big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, .
