Package : £100-150k and Equity The Opportunity This is a high-reward position for an unyieldingly determined individual passionate about leading the forefront of the Intelligence Age, enabling human organisations to work with increasingly complex systems of agents. Our Founders have built, scaled, and exited tech companies including an IPO and, most recently, a $100m sale in 2021. You will join our Founding Team, owning equity in the business, and valued as an owner, from Day 1. We value high-agency, high-clock rate, and high-tenacity. Is this you? Does the prospect of pioneering human-agentic systems excite you? We’d like to hear from you. About Fractal Fractal is creating the first ‘Human x Agentic Orchestration Layer’. This layer sits across both human and agent intelligence, passing work from human to machine (model, agent, tool), and back again. 92% of Fortune 500 companies use GPTs, but there has been a less than 1% shift in holistic company output. Simply put, AI is only being called at the task-level. The solution is a new system for work, human-agentic systems. Our core product, Fractal, is a platform that enables companies to build, manage, and scale human-agentic teams through graph-based workflow maps, delegating specific nodes to the right human or machine, at the right time. Our mission? To enable any business in the world to punch above their weight and scale independent of headcount. About the Role As part of the Founding Team, youll be at the forefront of defining how AI orchestration works at scale. You will co-lead and propel our Machine Learning team to define how Human x AI orchestration works at scale. Working in tandem with our CTO, you will develop and integrate sophisticated orchestration systems that intelligently coordinate between a multitude of AI models, emerging tooling, and human workers. NLP and agent orchestration are key to this role. You will be expected to take ownership and initiative to push Fractal as far as possible, enabling our team to lead and win a new $1.5Trillion market. You will have the opportunity to learn new technologies and apply them in a fast-paced environment, seeing the direct impact of your work in the product rapidly. From experimentation to deployment, youll be part of a cycle where your contributions quickly translate into real-world applications, helping shape the future of our product. As part of the Founding Team, youll have unprecedented influence in shaping our IP and a front row seat to what we view as the most exciting problem of our time: creating the systems that powerfully integrate an exponentially smarter alien intelligence into the lives of every company in the world. Your Responsibilities Pioneer the development and implementation of AI agents for autonomous task execution within our orchestration platform Design and implement sophisticated systems for intelligent task planning, delegation, and coordination between AI agents and human workers Architect and build scalable, production-ready systems in cloud environments (AWS), with a focus on performance, reliability, and cost optimisation Develop and implement complex workflows for task routing and execution across multiple AI models and human operators Create robust monitoring and evaluation systems to track agent performance and workflow efficiency Integrate various AI models and tools into our orchestration layer, ensuring seamless interoperability Work with relational, non-relational, and graph databases to manage and process data efficiently Drive technical initiatives independently, from problem identification through solution implementation Contribute to the development of our core orchestration engine and its underlying architecture Self-manage complex projects while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders Required Experience Your experience will match well with the following. We are not box tickers. Above all, we value drive, work rate, and tenacity. Education and Qualifications Masters/PhD degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related field Technical Skills and Experience: 5 years of professional machine learning experience or applied research in a related field Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles Demonstrated experience with LLM frameworks and agent building architectures Familiarity with prompt engineering and LLM optimisation techniques Proven track record of building and deploying production-ready ML systems Strong programming skills in Python and experience with modern ML frameworks Experience with distributed systems and microservices architecture Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in ambiguous, fast-paced environments Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to effectively evaluate and critique technical solutions Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams Strong Candidates May Also Have Experience with orchestration systems or workflow management platforms Strong knowledge of cloud architecture principles and best practices (particularly AWS) Proficiency in deep learning frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow Experience with end-to-end LLM training and fine-tuning Experience with real-time systems and event-driven architectures Knowledge of AI safety and alignment principles Background in reinforcement learning or multi-agent systems Experience with graph databases and knowledge graphs Contributions to open-source projects or research publications in relevant fields You don’t need 100% of the above experience to be a good match What We Offer With equity, you will be treated and compensated like an owner from day one. 6-Figure salary, flexible to your experience Equity. You should want to be an owner more than you want to be an employee. Opportunity to shape the future of AI orchestration as an early team member Direct impact on product development and company direction Work with cutting-edge AI technologies and solve novel technical challenges Competitive compensation package including equity Flexible work arrangements, with the ability to meet in London. Our office is by Old St. Continuous learning and development opportunities Work directly alongside the Founders and influence company strategy Chance to be a Founding Team member and shape the future of work. Process We run a 4-step process: Initial GMeets call with Co-Founder : we want to understand more about your background and motivations In-depth GMeets with CTO : we want to understand your skill set and previous experience Task with CSO : we want to see how you take ownership and approach problems Final interview with CEO & CSO : we want to understand cultural fit and how you slot into our team.

Maths for AI Jobs: The Only Topics You Actually Need (& How to Learn Them)

If you are a software engineer, data scientist or analyst looking to move into AI or you are a UK undergraduate or postgraduate in computer science, maths, engineering or a related subject applying for AI roles, the maths can feel like the biggest barrier. Job descriptions say “strong maths” or “solid fundamentals” but rarely spell out what that means day to day. The good news is you do not need a full maths degree worth of theory to start applying. For most UK roles like Machine Learning Engineer, AI Engineer, Data Scientist, Applied Scientist, NLP Engineer or Computer Vision Engineer, the maths you actually use again & again is concentrated in a handful of topics: Linear algebra essentials Probability & statistics for uncertainty & evaluation Calculus essentials for gradients & backprop Optimisation basics for training & tuning A small amount of discrete maths for practical reasoning This guide turns vague requirements into a clear checklist, a 6-week learning plan & portfolio projects that prove you can translate maths into working code.

Neurodiversity in AI Careers: Turning Different Thinking into a Superpower

The AI industry moves quickly, breaks rules & rewards people who see the world differently. That makes it a natural home for many neurodivergent people – including those with ADHD, autism & dyslexia. If you’re neurodivergent & considering a career in artificial intelligence, you might have been told your brain is “too much”, “too scattered” or “too different” for a technical field. In reality, many of the strengths that come with ADHD, autism & dyslexia map beautifully onto AI work – from spotting patterns in data to creative problem-solving & deep focus. This guide is written for AI job seekers in the UK. We’ll explore: What neurodiversity means in an AI context How ADHD, autism & dyslexia strengths match specific AI roles Practical workplace adjustments you can ask for under UK law How to talk about your neurodivergence during applications & interviews By the end, you’ll have a clearer picture of where you might thrive in AI – & how to set yourself up for success.
