The Forecasting Data Scientist will offer technical expertise for demand forecasting and airport capacity. They will perform data analytics and advanced modelling to aid operational planning and strategic problem-solving. Additionally, they will refine complex models and methods using advanced tools like machine learning and enhance efficiency through automation.

Responsibilities:

  1. Providing precise forecasting and capacity analysis to support efficient airport planning and operations.
  2. Transforming data analysis into actionable insights for the airport, making informed decisions despite uncertainties using commercial and operational intelligence.
  3. Communicating complex ideas clearly and accurately to senior stakeholders, both internally and externally, including non-technical audiences.
  4. Continuously improving team forecasting and analytical capabilities by engaging with business members and seeking innovative solutions.
  5. Collaborating with the airport community to ensure access to essential data and tools and develop and maintain intricate forecasting models and dashboards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A numerate person with an advanced understanding of statistics.
  • Advanced technical and analytical competence, ideally with a broad interest in aviation.
  • Object-oriented programming experience is crucial, particularly in R, Python, SQL, and the ability to quickly learn new analytical tools such as PowerBi.
  • A good understanding of Spark & Hadoop.
  • A good knowledge of forecasting, machine learning, and data modelling approaches.
  • Broad knowledge of Databricks and Heathrow/or any Airport is desirable.
  • Good team working skills and the ability to manage and plan own work and work under tight deadlines.
