Job Overview:

A Fire Protection Contract Surveyoris responsible for managing contracts related to fire protection systems, ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations, and conducting site surveys to assess fire risks. This role involves preparing scopes of work to facilitate Fire Stopping Contractors, negotiating terms, overseeing project budgets, and ensuring fire protection systems are designed, installed, and maintained according to industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Contract Management:

Prepare, review fire risk assessment for fire protection installations, maintenance, and inspections.

Ensure contracts comply with fire safety regulation (approved Document B) and tested standards

Monitor contractor performance and resolve any compliance issues or disputes.

Management of sub-contractors, to ensure working practice are aligned with company Policy and Procedures

2. Site Surveys & Fire Risk Assessments:

Conduct Triage surveys to assess fire hazards from risk assessments

Evaluate passive fire protection systems for compliance.

Prepare detailed reports on fire safety risks and recommend corrective actions

3. Cost Estimation & Budgeting:

Prepare cost estimates for fire protection solutions, including installation, maintenance, and repairs.

Ensure project costs align with budget and contract terms.

Assess financial risks and propose cost-effective solutions

4. Stakeholder Coordination:

Collaborate with fire engineers, building owners, contractors, and local fire authorities as and when required

Advise clients on the best fire protection solutions based on site conditions.

Communicate contract details, project timelines, and risk factors to relevant parties.

5. Documentation & Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of fire protection contracts, inspections, and certifications.

Prepare reports on contract compliance, survey findings, and risk assessments.

Ensure all documentation is updated and stored securely for audit purposes

Skills & Qualifications:

Essential:

Suitable qualification in, Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.

Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

Ability to conduct fire risk assessments and recommend appropriate fire safety measures.

Ability to understand fire risk assessments and produce schedules of work ahead of passive fire contractors.

Can feel comfortable liaising and managing sub-contractors to discuss technical issues.

Desirable:

Certification in a Fire related field.

Experience with protection projects.

Understanding of fire suppression technologies, building regulations, and risk mitigation.

Work Environment

Work involves office-based contract management and on-site fire protection surveys.

Travel to construction sites, commercial buildings, and industrial facilities is required

Travel will be required to various locations in the U.K.
