Accountabilities: As the SCP Engineering Lead, you will lead an agile engineering team and set the technical strategies to meet future scientific computing needs, where machine learning and AI are increasingly playing a major role in drug discovery at AstraZeneca. You will be responsible for the technical direction and architecture decisions including compute, storage, networks and applications, actively steering evolution towards a true hybrid cloud platform. You will also drive efforts to improve overall utilisation and efficiency through user training, communities of practice and in-depth collaboration. Essential Skills/Experience: - Bachelor's, Masters or Doctorate degree in a quantitative or engineering field or equivalent work experience delivering innovative HPC and/or AI/ML solutions - Proven track record in developing and operating HPC at scale - Demonstrated knowledge of HPC and high throughput computing, including relevant compute, storage & network technologies - A deep understanding of cloud technologies and engineering paradigms, especially AWS - Strong passion for DevOps, cloud-native architecture, and infrastructure as code - Experience cultivating the values, culture, and team topology conducive to impactful & empowered DevOps teams - Background or interest in biology or medicine is a plus - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills - Experience in a similar role within the IT industry When we put unexpected teams in the same room, we unleash bold thinking with the power to inspire life-changing medicines.
