MongoDB Professional Services (PS) works with customers of all shapes and sizes, in all verticals, from tier-1 banks to small web startups, on a variety of exciting use cases. MongoDB PS exists to support the development of our customers’ vision, accelerate customers’ time to value, and drive a multitude of customer adoption scenarios – from building new solutions to modernising legacy applications or migrating to cloud. Our consulting solutions ensure that organisations get the best out of MongoDB.

The Services Delivery Enablement (SDE) team, within MongoDB Professional Services, is responsible for designing and developing technical enablement programs for a broad set of stakeholders within the MongoDB PS team and its consulting partner organisations. This includes consulting engineers, database administrators, and developers. Moreover, the team is a driving force behind consulting processes, playbooks, systems and tools to ensure these technical professionals are at the top of their game so that we provide a world-class customer experience.

Artificial Intelligence, while not a new field, continues to advance rapidly and has recently gained significant attention. As a result, our customers’ needs and use cases are being radically transformed. 

We are seeking an experienced customer-facing developer, with hands-on Artificial Intelligence experience, to take the MongoDB PS team to the next level of expertise in deploying AI-related solutions and offerings for our customers.

We are looking to speak to candidates who are based in London for our hybrid working model.

Position expectations

Research and keep up to date with AI and its development, particularly as it relates to genAI advancements, to better understand how it can be applied to MongoDB products and offerings Evaluate training requirements by product and role, and develop appropriate technical enablement programs for internal and partner stakeholders, with a particular focus on AI use cases Deliver technical training to internal and partner stakeholders, principally consulting engineers and developers Collaborate with the MongoDB product engineering, customer engineering, and sales teams to stay abreast of new products, features, and customer adoption scenarios. Develop engaging, accurate, in-depth enablement content that helps our consultants succeed in helping our customers adopt MongoDB for AI use cases Apply all your skills to support the development of new and revised PS offerings to keep pace with industry trends, customer needs and MongoDB product evolution, particularly as they relate to AI. In this context, your role is to provide technical subject matter expertise as a co-creator of new PS offerings or to propose new offerings as you see fit, with an emphasis on how they can be optimised by leveraging AI Build out and support crowd-sourcing of playbooks, best practices, and other technical consulting resources to drive a culture of excellence Ensure that MongoDB consulting engineers and other roles have access to systems and resources necessary to perform their roles competently (e.g., cloud infrastructure, external e-learning) Act as an advisor for MongoDB PS engineers, answering technical questions, finding resources for further study, and connecting them to different teams and processes within the organisation

Requirements

4+ years working as a software developer 1+ year of experience in the Artificial Intelligence field, building AI and RAG-based applications Competency with prompt engineering and creating prompts to address project and customer requirements specifically for coding Ability to tune LLMs to provide required outputs, such as modifying Temperature, Top P, and Top K values Knowledge of AI frameworks such as Langchain or Llama Experience with AI embedding models such as Nomic or Cohere Strong proficiency in Python (and experience with AI libraries) Strong proficiency in at least one other of the following languages (in no particular order): Java, C#, Node.js (JavaScript), and Go History of delivering high-cadence modern applications with applied Agile methodologies, test-first development approaches, adopting CI/CD pipelines, and using Git version control Familiarity with enterprise-scale software architectures, application development methodologies, and software deployment and operations, including requirements engineering Excellent analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills Ability to adapt to innovative technologies and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment Strong verbal and written communication skills High motivation for a role that combines deep technical work with the softer skills needed to incept and drive change and improvement across the MongoDB PS organisation A “can-do” attitude, and the ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally Ability to travel occasionally to other MongoDB offices or customer sites Ability to speak and write English fluently

Nice-to-have experience

Development with databases, ideally MongoDB, or others such as Oracle, MSSQL Server, PostgreSQL Working knowledge of microservices architectures and Domain-Driven Design approaches 1+ years in enterprise technology professional services, in a consulting or other customer-facing delivery role AI-specific tools such as TensorFlow, Google Cloud AI Platform, Amazon SageMaker, etc Working in a number of distinct industries/verticals

Success measures

Within 3 months:

Complete internal training on MongoDB  Be connected to the broader AI-focused, cross-functional community across MongoDB to remain aligned with other functions and to represent PS in planning and conversations Work closely with and contribute effectively to the already established AI Specialism team and become the go-to AI subject matter expert in MongoDB PS Take ownership of appropriate parts of the technical enablement curriculum, developing new and existing content and methods of delivery to ensure that we provide a superlative ramping experience, and can do so at scale As needed, start delivering technical training to ramp MongoDB consulting engineers and partner developers

Within 6 months:

Develop a roadmap for potential AI-related offerings and internal tools. Support offerings development and provide support for AI-related PS opportunities as needed Contribute to initial success in improving the evergreening of consultant skills, with a particular focus on how we scale expertise across a growing number of MongoDB products Contribute to ongoing evolution of the enablement roadmap

Within 12 months:

Act as a driving force within the MongoDB consulting engineer community, meaningfully driving increased consistency and excellence in consulting delivery worldwide, through the build-out and crowd-sourcing of AI-related best practices and tools
