Job overview

We are looking to recruit an EIP Community Mental Health Social worker who is motivated and enthusiastic with proven abilities to work positively with service user, carers and family.

Redbridge EIP is a multi-disciplinary service, providing a range of specialist interventions within an integrated person centred approach to people aged 14-65 resident in the Borough of Redbridge experiencing or suspected of experiencing a first episode of psychosis. 

EIP is a specialist team that is well resourced to support the team to ensure that we offer the NICE guideline for interventions that require the collaborative working through our multi disciplinary team including IPS worker, STR worker, psychology, and physical health assistant. 

The successful candidate needs to be an experienced qualified professional, possessing a commitment to working with young adults, their carers and family. Is passionate toward EIP as a service and model and is committed to developing and promoting evidence-based best practice. To also be conversant with adolescent mental health interventions, the evolving needs of our service users, their carers and family.

The post is full time, offering excellent opportunities to develop special professional interests; share expertise and work closely with colleagues. Training, good support and partnership working is offered.

Main duties of the job

The main responsibilities of the post: 

To provide an integrated recovery centred clinical service to people aged 14-65 living in the Borough of Redbridge, who are experiencing a first episode of psychosis, in accordance with the new waiting time guidelines NICE Standard 80.

To assess and act as care coordinator to clients referred to the service, in accordance with Care programme Approach (CPA) policy. Undertake comprehensive assessment of health and social needs together with the service users implement a plan of care and intervention to meet these needs, ensuring regular reviews are in place for evaluation of the care plan.

To provide carer assessments to ensure carers and family are included and supported and in care planning. To participate in carer focused education, family intervention approaches, support programmes and carers groups providing information about relevant legislation and carer’s rights. 

To facilitate and implement the Trust and Local Authority requirements in relation to safeguarding children and guidance legislation within the Care Act 2014. To adhere to the requirements of the Safeguarding Adults policy.

High-Cost Area Supplement

This post also attracts payment for High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,551 and a maximum payment of £5,735) pro rata for part time staff.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

·Foster recovery through empowerment of service users and carers by involving the service user and carer in the planning of their care establishing and maintaining consistent supportive relationships, which encourage increased self-determination and responsibility for service users and their care.

·Offer a range of evidence based interventions and risk management approaches enabling the service user and carers to reduce and manage symptoms and high-risk behaviour.

·Be proactive, innovative and creative in delivering care, enabling the facilitation of service user’s recovery.

·Engage service users and carers in relapse prevention and crisis plans, providing intervention that maximizes the service user’s ability to resolve crisis and prevent hospitalization.

·Deliver a flexible and responsive service through practice that is dictated by service users/carers needs.

·Work collaboratively and effectively with members of the multi-disciplinary team and in partnership with other agencies.

·Deliver high quality care and provide solutions to service users with severe and enduring mental health problems.

·To have organisational knowledge relating to Trust protocols and procedures and adhere to them.

·To be responsible for providing accurate records of information required by the Trust for audit purposes.

Understanding of government legislation and policy guidance pertaining to EIP and Mental Health. Especially NICE concordant interventions for FEP To demonstrate knowledge and competency of the Mental Health Act 1983 related legislation and is applications Knowledge and understanding of Adult and children Safeguarding policy and procedures To demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the Mental Capacity Act
