Divisional Manager – Artificial Intelligence (Cubiq AI US)

Manchester City Centre – Hybrid

Cubiq is looking for a Divisional Manager to lead our Cubiq AI US practice, overseeing a multi-functional recruitment team operating across some of the most advanced areas of artificial intelligence.

This role sits at the centre of our US AI strategy, leading consultants specialising across Applied Machine Learning, AI Research, Software Engineering, Data, and Product, supporting companies developing cutting-edge AI systems and technologies.

You’ll be responsible for leading, developing, and scaling a high-performing team, while continuing to build relationships with some of the most innovative companies in the AI ecosystem.

This is a role suited to an experienced recruitment leader with the ambition to build and shape a specialist division, working alongside an established global AI practice and leveraging the strong client relationships already in place.

Why join Cubiq AI?

Cubiq has been operating in the AI market for over eight years, long before artificial intelligence became a mainstream hiring focus.

Our client base includes some of the most technically advanced AI organisations globally, as well as early-stage companies founded by leaders coming out of organisations such as OpenAI, Google DeepMind, Anthropic, Meta, and leading research labs.

Much of our work has been built through long-term relationships and reputation within the AI ecosystem, allowing us to work closely with founders, research leaders, and engineering teams on critical hires.

As Divisional Manager for Cubiq AI US, you’ll play a central role in strengthening and expanding Cubiq’s presence within this market, working alongside experienced consultants across our wider AI teams.

You’ll have the opportunity to build on an already established platform, with active client relationships, strong delivery capability, and a collaborative team environment that encourages knowledge sharing and market insight.

What you’ll do

  • Lead and develop a multi-functional AI recruitment team covering Applied ML, AI Research, Software Engineering, Data, and Product
  • Drive the growth and strategic direction of the Cubiq AI US practice
  • Work closely with consultants to develop markets, win new clients, and deliver on high-impact AI hiring projects
  • Leverage and expand existing relationships with leading AI companies, research labs, and start‑ups
  • Collaborate with wider Cubiq AI teams globally, sharing networks, clients, and market insight
  • Support consultants in building deep credibility within their specialist markets
  • Play a key role in scaling the Cubiq AI brand across the US AI ecosystem

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for a senior recruitment leader who combines strong billing capability with the ability to develop and lead high-performing teams.

You will likely have:

  • Several years of recruitment experience within an agency environment
  • Experience leading or mentoring consultants, or a clear track record of influencing team performance
  • A background recruiting within technology, AI, software, or another highly specialist market
  • Strong client relationship and business development capability
  • The ambition to build and scale a specialist recruitment division

Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who wants to play a defining role in shaping Cubiq’s AI presence in the US market.

This is a role for someone who enjoys building teams, developing people, and establishing long-term credibility within a highly technical industry.

  • Market‑leading uncapped commission structure
  • Additional leadership incentives linked to divisional performance
  • Clear progression pathways toward senior leadership and directorship
  • The opportunity to lead a high‑growth AI practice within one of the most advanced technology markets globally
  • Direct exposure to cutting‑edge AI companies, founders, and research leaders
  • A collaborative and knowledge‑sharing culture across Cubiq’s specialist technology teams
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements
  • Modern city‑centre office with on‑site gym, breakout spaces, pool table, bike storage, and parking
  • Two annual holiday incentives, quarterly achievers club, late starts, early finishes, and additional performance incentives

Apply now for immediate consideration, or reach out directly to learn more about leading Cubiq AI US.

How Many AI Tools Do You Need to Know to Get an AI Job?

If you are job hunting in AI right now it can feel like you are drowning in tools. Every week there is a new framework, a new “must-learn” platform or a new productivity app that everyone on LinkedIn seems to be using. The result is predictable: job seekers panic-learn a long list of tools without actually getting better at delivering outcomes. Here is the truth most hiring managers will quietly agree with. They do not hire you because you know 27 tools. They hire you because you can solve a problem, communicate trade-offs, ship something reliable and improve it with feedback. Tools matter, but only in service of outcomes. So how many AI tools do you actually need to know? For most AI job seekers: fewer than you think. You need a tight core toolkit plus a role-specific layer. Everything else is optional. This guide breaks it down clearly, gives you a simple framework to choose what to learn and shows you how to present your toolset on your CV, portfolio and interviews.

What Hiring Managers Look for First in AI Job Applications (UK Guide)

Hiring managers do not start by reading your CV line-by-line. They scan for signals. In AI roles especially, they are looking for proof that you can ship, learn fast, communicate clearly & work safely with data and systems. The best applications make those signals obvious in the first 10–20 seconds. This guide breaks down what hiring managers typically look for first in AI applications in the UK market, how to present it on your CV, LinkedIn & portfolio, and the most common reasons strong candidates get overlooked. Use it as a checklist to tighten your application before you click apply.

The Skills Gap in AI Jobs: What Universities Aren’t Teaching

Artificial intelligence is no longer a future concept. It is already reshaping how businesses operate, how decisions are made, and how entire industries compete. From finance and healthcare to retail, manufacturing, defence, and climate science, AI is embedded in critical systems across the UK economy. Yet despite unprecedented demand for AI talent, employers continue to report severe recruitment challenges. Vacancies remain open for months. Salaries rise year on year. Candidates with impressive academic credentials often fail technical interviews. At the heart of this disconnect lies a growing and uncomfortable truth: Universities are not fully preparing graduates for real-world AI jobs. This article explores the AI skills gap in depth—what is missing from many university programmes, why the gap persists, what employers actually want, and how jobseekers can bridge the divide to build a successful career in artificial intelligence.
