Director, Product Owner, Directory Services

This role provides the accountability and product ownership globally for GSK, managing the end-to-end life cycle of Directory Services including strategy, design, engineering, and operations. This role will be responsible for preparing for the next stage of transformation for Directory Services, focusing on overall risk reduction, operational efficiency, and usability utilising automation, data analytics and increased monitoring capabilities. In addition to this, the role will have to design and deploy, in collaboration with the CSO organisation, a robust monitoring framework to ensure that services are continuously monitored (driven by security and audit requirements). The role is also responsible for demand management, stakeholder engagement, end user and executive communications.  

Your responsibilities include…

  • Accountable to align, develop and maintain the vision, strategy and roadmap for Directory services (Cloud based - EntraID and Active Directory Infrastructure) with GSK’s Business and Security objectives, along with industry and tech standards and best practices. Lead and support the design and build of technical capabilities.

  • Improve Maturity:  Oversees the maturity and use of Directory and other supporting tools.  Develops business cases that drive the adoption of the tools by proving the benefits.  Ensures that new features are assessed and taken advantage of to improve GSK’s security position.  

  • Effective Reporting:  Leads the development, implementation and management of relevant metrics to measure the efficiency and effectiveness of the service.   Builds capability to monitor automation performance by including benchmarking and tracking performance against service improvements.

  • Team Management:  Leadership of team, including performance management, capacity planning, and developing and mentoring staff.  Grow and retain talent through effective leadership capabilities.

  • Operational Excellence: Fosters an environment of operational excellence by building a foundation based on automated monitoring, resilient architecture, and continued service improvement.

  • Compliance and Audit Management:  Drive compliance and audit requirements, ensuring right set of process and procedures exist and are executed effectively.  This includes regulations related to GDPR, PII, Sarbanes Oxley, GxP, etc. Manage relationship with internal and external auditors ensuring GSK meets audit requirements in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Strategic Partner Management: Building and maintaining relationships with strategic partners, including service partners and product vendor.

  • Stakeholder Management: Partner and collaborate with executive leadership, cross-functional teams, and stakeholders across the enterprise, displaying strong influencing skills to work with various service and product owners.

  • Budget Management: Responsible for managing the financials including forecasting, demand management, and on-going budgeting.

  • Policy and Standards: Provides Subject Matter Expert (SME) support in developing policies and standards for IAM. This includes directory services, account provisioning, de-provisioning and monitoring access.

Why you? 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Significant experience designing or implementing complex technology projects specifically in the IAM domain

  • Strong experience in managing enterprise (£30Bn globally) directory environment and the accompanying technologies both on premise and using Azure services, strong understanding of the directory data model.

  • Experience in building IAM strategies and roadmap leveraging latest technology trends

  • Experience in building cloud-based IAM/Directory Services platforms (e.g., Azure and GCP)

  • Strong understanding and awareness of technology and strategy/direction in relation to Directory Services and broader IAM.

  • Strong understanding of the compliance landscape and associated policies, regulations and assurance models.

  • Proven experience in dealing with external auditors and leading audit support and response work.

  • Proven experience in driving service improvements including adoption of automation and self-service models.

  • Awareness of wider external strategy & direction being pursued by industry in relation to identity management and access control.

  • Demonstrated effective communication skills

  • Proven experience managing third party vendors suppling tech services.

  • Proven ability to influence/manage senior stakeholders.

  • Able to demonstrate abilities to effectively exploit complex data, present it effectively and extract actionable insights.

  • Proven experience in leading and building robust teams.

  • Self-starter with a sense of urgency and the ability to handle multiple high-priority work demands simultaneously in an outcome-driven organization.

  • Proven experience managing operational budgets (£5-10M)

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent technical qualification with relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a solid understanding of its technological trends.

  • Passionate about enhancing the customer experience.

  • Experience running a global operational service and managing the accompanying infrastructure

  • Experienced in initiating and delivering large-scale operational programs.

  • Proficient in agile delivery methodologies.

  • Experienced in the DevOps operational model and exposure to AI/ML /Data science
