About the role:

We are looking for an

entrepreneurial Product Manager

with strong leadership skills to own and drive the development of Samsara's

Telematics EV Product . This is a unique opportunity to take a product from concept to market and grow it into a

high-revenue business . The ideal candidate will define the

strategy , build the product, and own the

P&L

for this business line. As this product grows, you will manage a small team of product managers to help scale and drive high growth.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, sales, and marketing, to build a best-in-class EV telematics solution. This role is perfect for a strategic thinker who is passionate about EVs, telematics, and fleet management and who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

In this role, you will:

Develop and Execute Product Strategy : Create and own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for Samsara's telematics solution for electric vehicles. Identify market opportunities and gaps, focusing on building a differentiated product that addresses the unique needs of EV fleet operators.

Own P&L and Business Growth : Take full ownership of the EV product line's

P&L , from first revenue to scaling the product into a high-growth business. Set financial targets and performance metrics to ensure the product's commercial success.

Product Development : Work closely with engineering, design, and data science teams to develop the EV telematics product. Prioritize features that enhance fleet management capabilities, such as battery management, charging optimization, and range analysis.

Go-to-Market and Revenue Generation : Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success teams to create and execute a go-to-market strategy that drives early adoption, establishes product-market fit, and ensures successful customer onboarding. Lead efforts to acquire the first set of customers and drive initial revenue.

Market Research & Competitive Analysis : Stay up-to-date on industry trends, customer needs, and competitor offerings in the EV and fleet management space. Use this research to inform product development and ensure that Samsara's EV solution remains competitive and relevant.

Leadership & Team Management : As the product grows, hire, mentor, and lead 1-2 product managers to help scale the EV product line. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and customer-centricity within the team.

Collaboration Across the Organization : Partner with legal, finance, and operations teams to ensure the product complies with regulatory requirements and operates within budget constraints. Work closely with customer-facing teams to gather feedback and iterate on the product.

Evangelize the Product : Act as the primary advocate for the EV telematics product both internally and externally. Share the vision and roadmap across the organization, engaging stakeholders at all levels and driving excitement and alignment.

Drive Innovation : Continuously explore new opportunities to innovate within the EV fleet management space, leveraging Samsara's IoT platform and data analytics to provide unique insights and operational efficiencies for fleet managers.

Minimum requirements for the role:

Entrepreneurial Mindset : You are an entrepreneurial self-starter who is comfortable taking a product from zero to one. You thrive in ambiguous environments and enjoy building things from the ground up.

Ownership of P&L : Experience in owning a product's

P&L

and making strategic decisions based on financial performance and revenue growth targets.

5+ years of Product Management experience , ideally within the telematics, automotive, EV, or fleet management industries.

EV Industry Knowledge : Strong understanding of the electric vehicle landscape, including challenges related to fleet electrification, battery management, and charging infrastructure.

Track Record of Delivering Results : Proven success in taking products from concept to market and scaling them into high-growth businesses. Ability to manage complex projects with tight deadlines and bold targets.

Leadership Skills : Experience in managing, developing, and scaling a small product team (1-2 PMs) while fostering an inclusive, collaborative culture.

Strong Technical Acumen : Ability to grasp technical concepts related to telematics, EV management, and IoT solutions. Able to work closely with engineers and establish credibility in technical discussions.

Data-Driven Decision Making : Demonstrated ability to use data and analytics to guide decision-making, product prioritization, and performance measurement.

Excellent Communication & Presentation Skills : Comfortable presenting to senior leadership, customers, and stakeholders across various functions. Ability to effectively communicate product vision and strategy.

Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field , such as Engineering, Computer Science, or Business, or equivalent professional experience.

An ideal candidate also has:

Experience in EV Fleet Management : Prior experience building or working on products specifically for EV fleet operators, including telematics, charging optimization, and vehicle monitoring solutions.

Proven Experience in High-Growth Companies : Experience working in a high-growth tech or SaaS company, ideally in a product leadership role where you scaled a product line into a significant revenue generator.

Passion for Sustainability and Electrification : A strong personal or professional interest in the future of electric vehicles, fleet sustainability, and the role of technology in driving positive environmental outcomes.
