An established house builder is looking to recruit a Development Engineer to support multiple residential projects across the North West.Our client is a distinguished privately owned housebuilder with over 50 years of experience in delivering high-quality homes and creating thriving communities. With a strong reputation built on decades of excellence, they are committed to thoughtful design, sustainability, and superior craftsmanship.Repeatedly they win NHBC/LABC awards across their developments,. delivered in highly desirable locations.With a strong pipeline of projects and a commitment to innovation and sustainability, they are seeking a talented Development Engineer to join their North West team.The RoleThis is a key technical position within the land and development team, where you’ll play a vital role in shaping and delivering engineering solutions that are both efficient and commercially sound. You'll work closely with the land team to assess and de-risk potential sites before acquisition, providing technical input throughout the due diligence process. This includes reporting and strategies related to drainage, earthworks, retaining structures, foundations, and utilities, as well as support with estimating and procurement of groundwork packages.Your input will also be essential during planning stages, ensuring engineering strategies align with overall project goals.Key responsibilitiesCoordinate technical approvals to ensure sites are ready for development on scheduleCollaborate with the land team to ensure a smooth handover of technical informationProduce detailed site viability reports in line with residential development regulationsReview and assess technical drawings for accuracy and cost-effectivenessManage and liaise with external consultants to meet key deadlinesSecure all required engineering design and ground investigation approvalsAttend site and design meetings to resolve technical challengesEngage with highways and planning authorities to determine technical requirementsSupport tender processes and pre-construction engineering documentationStay up to date with and incorporate new regulatory requirements into project strategiesManage procurement of site investigation data and advise on potential abnormal costsMonitor the adoption process for infrastructure (roads, sewers, public open spaces)Assist in recovering and reducing bond values at the earliest opportunitySupport the Engineering Manager in sourcing quotes from consultantsProvide ongoing technical guidance to site teamsEnsure all technical sign-offs are in place to meet project start datesWhat they’re looking forStrong background in residential development engineeringSolid understanding of highways and drainage design standardsExperience within a housebuilder or similar environment such as residential sub-contractorProven ability to lead engineering strategies within a team settingSkilled in value engineering and cost evaluationConfident in reviewing and directing the work of external consultantsAnalytical mindset with good problem-solving skillsFamiliar with managing budgets and forecasting abnormal costsCivil Engineering qualification (HNC or above)Proficient with software such as AutoCAD, PDS, and MicrodrainageWhat’s On OfferCompetitive salary (dependent on experience)Company car or car allowancePension contributionPrivate healthcarePerformance-related bonus
