This role operates primarily on a remote working arrangement that will require little to no travel into our various sites/campus. Our working model arrangements are a non-contractual benefit so please note that an Arden work location is added to our employment contracts.

About the Opportunity

As a Data Scientist at Arden University, you will use your scientific expertise to drive improvements in student experience, student outcomes, and operational efficiency. You will use techniques such as machine learning and artificial intelligence to build powerful data products that enhance decision making throughout our organisation. You'll use your business acumen to understand our business goals and discover opportunities where data science can have a positive impact.

About You

This is a really exciting opportunity for recent graduates or junior scientists that are looking for the next step in their career. Or you might have a bit more experience but you're looking for a change.

Essential Requirements
  • Proven data literacy — including the ability to translate among the languages used by executive, business and IT and stakeholders.
  • Experience of programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL.
  • An understanding of descriptive and inferential statistical concepts such as probability distributions, linear regression, and Bayesian statistics.
  • A knowledge of sampling techniques and their implications for analysis.
  • Ability to analyse and report on key performance indicators across complex and disparate data sets.
  • Demonstrated experience of creating business value using data & analytics.
  • Experience in the full data lifecycle of collecting, analysing, and communicating data.
  • Experience of applying data science and statistical practices in a business context to assist in data-driven decision making.
  • Experience with tools to analyse, manipulate and visualize datasets.
  • Experience of working with and influencing business stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of machine learning algorithms and data science techniques.
Desirable Requirements
  • Formal Data & Analytics qualification e.g. Certified Analytics Professional (CAP), Azure Data Engineer/Scientist Associate.
  • Experience in the use of data and analytics tooling within Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience of Data Science technologies within Microsoft Azure.
