At Almac Discovery, we utilize our team's expertise to overcome the hurdles inherent in drug discovery, contributing to new medicines that address unmet medical needs across a range of therapeutic indications.


Role

As a member of the bioinformatics group, the post holder will support all aspects of data science and integration within Almac Discovery. The role involves managing the storage, processing, and analysis of data produced by the scientific teams across biology, chemistry, and protein therapeutics.


This is an exciting opportunity to play a central role in the further development of Almac Discovery as an innovative and successful biotechnology company.


Preference will be given to a motivated individual with a high level of scientific commitment and strong work ethic who thrives in a highly collaborative environment.


Travel Requirement

As part of this dynamic role, the post holder will travel across all Almac Discovery locations, including Belfast, Edinburgh, and Manchester. Flexibility and willingness to travel are essential.


Qualifications

  • BSc or MSc in Data Science, Bioinformatics or Computer Science.
  • Experience developing databases and executing SQL queries.
  • Experience using Linux-based operating systems and command line applications.
  • Experience creating data visualisations.
  • Proficiency in either R or Python.
  • Experience developing software applications.

Desirable Criteria

  • PhD in Data Science, Bioinformatics or Computer Science.
  • Prior work experience in a relevant industrial, academic or life science setting.
  • Experience using or building ELN or LIMS systems.
  • Prior experience in building data analytics software.
  • Experience writing or developing SOPs.
