Role overview:

Join the Decision Science team within the broader Data Science, Analytics, & Enablement (DSAE) organisation at PlayStation. As a Data Scientist II, you will focus on designing and interpreting experiments to evaluate the impact of PS+ personalisation initiatives, top-decile engagement strategies, and broader campaign performance. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to embed experimentation into product development and decision-making.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Design and analyse A/B tests and quasi-experiments to assess the impact of various initiatives and campaigns.
  • Support test setup, hypothesis development, and interpretation of results in partnership with product managers, engineers, and marketers.
  • Independently retrieve and analyse data from sophisticated data systems using SQL and Python.
  • Translate experimental results into actionable recommendations that influence decision-making.
  • Contribute to the development and adoption of experimentation standard methodologies and tools.
  • Stay current on developments in experimentation and causal inference and bring innovative thinking to your work.
  • Share insights and collaborate with fellow data scientists to elevate experimentation capabilities across the team.

What we're looking for:

  • Master’s or PhD in Statistics, Economics, or Econometrics. Other degrees in quantitative subject areas may be considered.
  • 3–5 years of experience in a data science experimentation-focused role (less with PhD).
  • Solid understanding of A/B testing concepts and foundational causal inference methods.
  • Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and transformation.
  • Proficiency in Python.
  • Broad and applied knowledge of statistical techniques and machine learning modelling methods.
  • Ability to communicate data-driven insights to cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Bonus: Interest in or knowledge of video games, gaming platforms, or player behaviour.
