Role overview:

Join the Decision Science team within the broader Data Science, Analytics, & Enablement (DSAE) organisation at PlayStation. As a Data Scientist II, you will focus on designing and interpreting experiments to evaluate the impact of PS+ personalisation initiatives, top-decile engagement strategies, and broader campaign performance. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to embed experimentation into product development and decision-making.
What You'll Be Doing:
Design and analyse A/B tests and quasi-experiments to assess the impact of various initiatives and campaigns.
Support test setup, hypothesis development, and interpretation of results in partnership with product managers, engineers, and marketers.
Independently retrieve and analyse data from sophisticated data systems using SQL and Python.
Translate experimental results into actionable recommendations that influence decision-making.
Contribute to the development and adoption of experimentation standard methodologies and tools.
Stay current on developments in experimentation and causal inference and bring innovative thinking to your work.
Share insights and collaborate with fellow data scientists to elevate experimentation capabilities across the team.
What we're looking for:
Master's or PhD in Statistics, Economics, or Econometrics. Other degrees in quantitative subject areas may be considered.
3-5 years of experience in a data science experimentation-focused role (less with PhD).
Solid understanding of A/B testing concepts and foundational causal inference methods.
Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and transformation.
Proficiency in Python.
Broad and applied knowledge of statistical techniques and machine learning modelling methods.
Ability to communicate data-driven insights to cross-functional stakeholders.
Bonus: Interest in or knowledge of video games, gaming platforms, or player behaviour.
