Job description

Role: Data Scientist

Location: Coventry (

Rate: £500 to £600 per day outside IR35

Contract: 3 to 6 month contract


Investigo are currently searching for a Data Scientist to support one of the largest manufacturing companies in the world. The company are based in Coventry and there may be a requirement to come into the office 1 day per week.

We are looking for someone with expertise in AI algorithm development, forecasting, and deep learning. As part of the team, you'll design and fine-tune machine learning models, optimisation models and predict future values using time series analysis. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and effective communication are essential.

This responsibilities will include:

  • Gather and organise data from various sources.
  • Automate data collection processes to ensure efficiency.
  • Clean and validate data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Handle both structured (e.g., databases) and unstructured (e.g., text) data.
  • Conduct statistical analyses on large data-sets to discover trends and patterns.
  • Use tools like R, SQL, and Python for data analysis.
  • Develop models to address business problems.
  • Utilize machine-learning techniques to forecast future trends and behaviours.
  • Create visualisations (e.g., charts, graphs) to communicate findings effectively.
  • Translate data insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product development teams.

The key skills we are looking for are:

  • Highly experienced in data science.
  • Understanding of machine learning and operations research.
  • Proficiency in R, SQL, and Python.
  • Previous experience of working within an engineering / manufacturing company.
  • Experienced in using BI tools (Power BI / Tableau).
  • Experienced using data frameworks (Hadoop).
  • Proficient in deep learning libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, Keras),
