London Fire Brigade (LFB) is London’s Fire and Rescue Service – one of the largest firefighting and rescue organisations in the world. We are here to make London a safer city.
We employ over 5,500 people, across our operational team (our firefighters), control (our call handlers who answer your 999 calls) and our non-operational team (our teams who work behind the scenes to support our front-line services, including HR, IT, Finance, Procurement, Communications etc.).
LFB is recruiting a technically skilled and innovative Data Scientist to join the Performance Improvement & Business Intelligence team within the Transformation Directorate.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing Data Science function that plays a critical role in shaping the Brigade’s strategic decision-making. You will deliver advanced analytics, forecasting, and machine learning projects that address complex challenges, improve services, and help us keep London safe.
You will contribute to the development and implementation of AI and data-driven solutions using Python, Power BI, and other tools, enriching LFB’s data capabilities and helping the organisation automate processes and extract meaningful insights. The role also involves presenting findings to senior stakeholders, supporting external reporting, and contributing to a culture of data innovation through open-source collaboration, training, and technical leadership.
This is a high-impact role that offers the chance to work on major transformation projects, build cutting-edge analytical tools, and develop your technical skills in a supportive, forward-looking environment.
This post requires in-person attendance at LFB HQ or fire stations at least two days per week.
