About the Role

We’re looking for a Data Scientist to join our Data, Analytics & AI team at Morrisons. We work across all areas of the business, helping colleagues solve real-world problems using data. Whether it’s understanding customer behaviour, optimising supply chain decisions or supporting new initiatives in our stores, our team helps deliver real impact through analytics and insight.

As a Data Scientist, you’ll work collaboratively with colleagues across the business, using your technical and analytical skills to deliver value-driven solutions. You’ll also help shape our culture of curiosity, continuous learning and rapid delivery; getting data products into the hands of users quickly and effectively.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Deliver actionable insight by analysing data, building models, and communicating findings
  • Use tools like SQL and Python to extract and transform data and develop analytical solutions and machine learning models
  • Create data visualisations that make complex information easy to understand and act on
  • Support quick turnaround data requests that deliver value in days, not weeks
  • Contribute to the development of our data science roadmap
  • Work closely with the wider Data, Analytics & AU team and stakeholders across the business
  • Share your knowledge with colleagues and develop your skills by learning from others

About You

What we’re looking for:

  • A problem-solver who’s passionate about using data to make a difference
  • Able to tell stories with data and communicate insights clearly to all audiences
  • Curious, collaborative and always looking to improve how things are done
  • Familiar with working in both Agile and Waterfall delivery environments
  • Comfortable gathering requirements and refining them to drive value

Key Skills:

  • Solid SQL skills, you know how to extract and manipulate data efficiently
  • Experience programming in Python, R or other (e.g. Java, VBA, JavaScript)
  • Able to create effective data visualisations and dashboards
  • Willing to mentor others and share technical knowledge where possible
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP experience is a bonus but not essential)
