Theyve built a strong data science function thats now growing againthis time with a key leadership role; an opportunity for a hands-on Data Science Manager to lead a high-calibre team while remaining close to the code and product delivery. What youll be doing: Youll be leading a small but growing team of data scientists working on a wide range of production-grade AI solutions. The role is a hybrid of technical leadership and hands-on contributionso expect to support and mentor, while still getting involved in model building, experimentation, and optimisation. Youll play a key role in shaping how AI is used to solve real-world problemsacross pricing, claims, customer behaviour and morewith projects spanning traditional machine learning through to advanced GenAI. The team has strong momentum, leadership buy-in, and real appetite for innovation. If you're someone who loves combining technical depth with leadership and strategic thinking, this ones for you. You'll work closely with engineering, product, and analytics colleagues to translate business challenges into high-impact data science projectseverything from proof of concept to deployment. Your ability to communicate insights to non-technical stakeholders will be key, as will your curiosity and commercial thinking when solving problems. The current roadmap includes over a dozen AI and ML initiatives, ranging from claims optimisation to pricing models and GenAI tooling. Youll report directly into a senior data leader and play a big part in shaping the teams culture, delivery and strategic direction. What experience youll need to apply: Proven experience leading and mentoring data scientists in a commercial setting Currently working as a Data Science Manager, Lead Data Scientist or similar Experience working on GenAI/MLOps and similar projects Strong track record of delivering machine learning or AI projects end-to-end Hands-on skills in Python, with frameworks like Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or PySpark Deep understanding of data science best practices, including MLOps Strong stakeholder communication skillsable to translate complex insights into business impact Experience working in cross-functional teams with engineering, architecture, and product Knowledge of the insurance or financial services industry would be a bonus Comfortable working with unclean or unbalanced datasets, and familiarity with synthetic data is a plus What youll get in return: Up to £90,000 basic salary depending on experience Annual bonus linked to company and personal performance Great pension, life assurance and more!
