The Vacancy

At IRIS Software Group, data powers everything we do. Our Data Science team turns information into insight - building models, tools, and AI solutions that help our people and customers make smarter decisions every day.

We're now looking for a Data Science Manager to help take this to the next level - leading key projects, improving existing systems, and turning ideas into practical solutions that make a real impact.

Why This Role Matters

This role sits at the centre of how we use data at IRIS. You'll work closely with senior data leaders who design the architecture and create new initiatives, while also guiding the delivery of live projects and enhancements.

Your focus will be on developing improvements, managing day-to-day operations, and turning ideas into working solutions.

Think of it like this: the core of the car is already built - your job is to refine it, enhance it, and make sure it performs brilliantly every time.

Your work will make our systems faster, smarter, and more connected - helping IRIS continue to grow as one of the UK's leading software companies.

About the Team You\'ll Join

You'll be part of a collaborative team of data scientists, analysts, and engineers who share one goal: to turn data into something meaningful.

  • Build intelligent models and applications that make our business run better
  • Partner with teams across IRIS to uncover insights and solve problems
  • Explore new ways to use AI, automation, and machine learning
  • Keep our systems secure, reliable, and fully integrated

It's a place where curiosity and initiative are valued, and where you'll have the space to experiment and improve what already exists.

What You\'ll Be Doing

You'll take concepts and frameworks from the wider data team and turn them into practical, working solutions.

Day to day, you\'ll:

  • Manage and improve live data science applications
  • Build on existing models, dashboards, and integrations
  • Take loosely defined ideas and figure out how to deliver them
  • Collaborate on new data and AI projects from idea to implementation
  • Ensure data quality, governance, and security are always maintained
  • Work closely with teams using Salesforce to ensure systems are aligned and fully integrated
  • Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and drive continuous improvement

You'll have the scope to think creatively and solve problems in new ways - within the framework of our existing data ecosystem, evolving and enhancing what's already been built.

What We\'re Looking For

We're looking for someone practical, curious, and confident working independently. You'll enjoy solving problems, creating structure from loose ideas, and making things work better than before.

You'll bring:

  • A degree in Data Science, Analytics, Informatics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • A strong understanding of AWS (especially Q, QuickSight, Bedrock, or Agents) or Salesforce (and the desire to learn the other)
  • Excellent SQL and data warehousing skills
  • Hands-on experience in data wrangling, integration, and application development
  • Good understanding of data governance, quality, and security
  • The ability to explain technical work clearly and confidently
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset and experience working in Agile environments

What You\'ll Gain

  • The chance to shape how a global tech company uses data and AI
  • The opportunity to innovate and improve real-world business systems
  • Access to the latest AWS and Salesforce tools and technologies
  • A culture that values curiosity, collaboration, and creativity
  • Competitive salary, great benefits, and flexible working options
Our Application Process

We like to keep things simple, transparent, and fair:

1) Apply online
Send your CV and a few details. No long forms.

2) Initial Interview (plus Online Assessments)

  • A chat with our Talent team.
  • Two short assessments:
    • CCAT (15-minute timed test).
    • EPP (untimed personality questionnaire).

3) Interview with our Senior Manager, Data Science (MS Teams)
Talk about your experience and approach.

4) Final interview with our VP, Data Science (MS Teams)
Discuss how you\'ll make an impact at IRIS.

Join us and help shape the next chapter of how IRIS uses data, AI, and insight to power smarter decisions for businesses everywhere. Take what\'s built - and make it even better.

How to Write an AI CV that Beats ATS (UK examples)

Writing an AI CV for the UK market is about clarity, credibility, and alignment. Recruiters spend seconds scanning the top third of your CV, while Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) check for relevant skills & recent impact. Your goal is to make both happy without gimmicks: plain structure, sharp evidence, and links that prove you can ship to production. This guide shows you exactly how to do that. You’ll get a clean CV anatomy, a phrase bank for measurable bullets, GitHub & portfolio tips, and three copy-ready UK examples (junior, mid, research). Paste the structure, replace the details, and tailor to each job ad.

AI Recruitment Trends 2025 (UK): What Job Seekers Must Know About Today’s Hiring Process

Summary: UK AI hiring has shifted from titles & puzzle rounds to skills, portfolios, evals, safety, governance & measurable business impact. This guide explains what’s changed, what to expect in interviews, and how to prepare—especially for LLM application, MLOps/platform, data science, AI product & safety roles. Who this is for: AI/ML engineers, LLM engineers, data scientists, MLOps/platform engineers, AI product managers, applied researchers & safety/governance specialists targeting roles in the UK.

Why AI Careers in the UK Are Becoming More Multidisciplinary

Artificial intelligence is no longer a single-discipline pursuit. In the UK, employers increasingly want talent that can code and communicate, model and manage risk, experiment and empathise. That shift is reshaping job descriptions, training pathways & career progression. AI is touching regulated sectors, sensitive user journeys & public services — so the work now sits at the crossroads of computer science, law, ethics, psychology, linguistics & design. This isn’t a buzzword-driven change. It’s happening because real systems are deployed in the wild where people have rights, needs, habits & constraints. As models move from lab demos to products that diagnose, advise, detect fraud, personalise education or generate media, teams must align performance with accountability, safety & usability. The UK’s maturing AI ecosystem — from startups to FTSE 100s, consultancies, the public sector & universities — is responding by hiring multidisciplinary teams who can anticipate social impact as confidently as they ship features. Below, we unpack the forces behind this change, spotlight five disciplines now fused with AI roles, show what it means for UK job-seekers & employers, and map practical steps to future-proof your CV.
