The Data & Analytics function is a greenfield opportunity, offering the chance to shape how data science drives business decisions at Danone UK&I.

Role Purpose:

Mission of the Role

The Data Science Analyst will:

Develop and deliver data analytics and science solutions that enable business performance management and strategic decision-making. Mine, extract, and transform data from Danone’s cloud datalake and other enterprise systems. Build, test, and deploy machine learning models to support commercial, operational, and sustainability objectives. Support the Director of Data & Analytics in developing proof-of-concept (PoC) projects, especially those that demonstrate the value of data science in digital, commercial, and financial domains.

Key Accountabilities & Deliverables

Design, monitor, and manage performance and data quality KPIs across multiple functions. Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI, Tableau, and Python visualisation libraries (., Matplotlib, Seaborn). Extract, clean, and transform data using Python (Pandas), R, and SQL, ensuring data integrity and traceability. Build and evaluate machine learning models for forecasting, classification, regression, and clustering tasks. Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate commercial and operational challenges into analytical questions and actionable insights. Document data provenance, sources, and recommended usage to support data governance and compliance. Design and create PoC AI and Generative AI solutions—including tools, intelligent agents, and predictive models—to enhance productivity, optimise workflows, and drive sustainable business growth.

Stakeholder Engagement

Partner with commercial, operations, finance, and master data teams at both UK&I and global levels. Build analytical capability by delivering data science products, dashboards, ad hoc analyses, and PoC projects. Influence and support business teams in adopting data-driven decision-making.

Core Technical Skills

Proficient in Python and/or R, with strong data wrangling skills (Pandas, NumPy). Advanced SQL skills for data extraction and transformation. Strong foundational understanding of key machine learning models (classification, regression, clustering). Data visualisation skills using Matplotlib, Seaborn, Power BI, and Tableau. Familiar with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and experience using data science tools such as Databricks and IDEs (., VS Code, Jupyter). Experience with version control (Git) for collaborative development and reproducibility.

Critical Expertise

Demonstrated experience (2-3 years, including internships or academic projects) in developing and deploying data science solutions that deliver business value. Strong statistical and analytical reasoning, including experience with model evaluation and validation. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to tight deadlines in a matrix organisation.

Please note that the salary on offer for this position is between £35,000 - £45,000 + bonus & benefits
