Position Overview

Every month millions of people visit Zoopla searching over 500,000 homes for sale and rent, finding the best agents and securing the latest mortgage deals looking for help on one of the biggest decisions in life. Where’s my next home going to be?

We want to help even more people make better property decisions, and that’s why we care so much about data. Whether someone is looking for their next home or an estate agent is looking to list, we need a best-in-class journey for both. Measurement, experimentation, and insights are the keys to unlocking this.

Responsibilities

  • Taking ownership of the data relationship with business stakeholders
    • With support from the rest of the Analytics team
  • Reporting on our baseline performance and trends. Keeping our finger on the pulse.
  • Driving us towards a self-serve first culture
  • Reporting on complex experimentation
  • Close analyst-stakeholder relationships are the most crucial component of a well-functioning data team. Stakeholders should consider you part of their team.
  • Varied work across other data disciplines, e.g. dashboarding, AE modelling, business unit level deep dives and data sprints, supporting ML projects.

Requirements

What does a great candidate look like

  • Experience analysing pricing strategies. For example competitive pricing, value based pricing, and penetration pricing
  • Demonstrates curiosity and a proactive approach to learning, constantly seeking opportunities to deepen understanding and explore new ideas
  • Exhibits a strong desire for ownership and accountability, taking the initiative to drive projects forward and deliver impactful results
  • Skilled at translating complex business challenges into actionable data insights, driving meaningful outcomes and business impact
  • Excellent communication skills, able to convey ideas clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • While recognising the value of experience, greater emphasis is placed on finding the right cultural fit and individual capabilities for the role.
  • Strives to set high standards and continually seeks opportunities for personal and team growth, fostering an environment of continuous improvement
  • Inspired by the prospect of contributing to industry innovation and eager to participate in reimagining the future landscape

Technical Skills

Essential

  • Proficient in SQL with a proven track record of handling complex data queries and manipulation
  • Demonstrable experience with Tableau or similar data visualisation tools, including the ability to create insightful and user-friendly dashboards and reports

Desirable

  • Experience with DBT (Data Build Tool) or similar data transformation technologies, with a keen understanding of data modelling and ETL processes
  • A background in statistics and/or programming, with the ability to apply statistical methods and algorithms to extract insights from data
    • Especially surrounding experimentation

Familiarity with machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) techniques, preferably in Python, R, or another programming language, enabling the development and implementation of predictive models and data-driven solutions
