Are you passionate about education and eager to gain valuable classroom experience? GSL Education is seeking dedicated Cover Supervisors to support secondary schools in Barnsley. Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who have completed their training placements are encouraged to apply.

About the Role:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a key role in maintaining an effective learning environment in the absence of the regular teacher. You will oversee lessons, ensure students remain engaged, and support their learning journey.

Key Responsibilities of a Cover Supervisor:

  • Supervise whole classes, ensuring students remain on task during teacher absences.
  • Deliver pre-planned lesson materials across a range of subjects.
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Offer support and guidance to students where needed.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teaching staff.
  • Assist with the preparation of teaching materials and classroom resources.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor or in a similar role is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to engage and motivate secondary school students.
  • A confident and adaptable approach to classroom management.
  • A passion for education and supporting young learners.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
