This is a Hybrid Role - Must live within a commutable distance to one of our locations

Job Purpose

We are seeking a Lead Commercial Data Science Analyst to join our Sales Operations & Enablement (SO&E) group which supports the commercial sales team and their work with our commercial & industrial customers in Massachusetts in support of their energy efficiency, sustainability, and decarbonization efforts. The successful candidate will join a team whose primary responsibility is to increase sales team efficiency and productivity and will focus on developing analytical tools and capabilities to produce data-driven insights and actionable recommendations for optimizing customer targeting and acquisition.

Key Accountabilities
  • Review past sales data to monitor, evaluate, and better understand performance trends.
  • Gather and analyze diverse data to understand sales opportunities and issues and bring them to light.
  • Research and evaluate areas of opportunity for growth in specific market segments.
  • Providing actionable insights to guide the sales team.
  • Monitor and analyze customer and market trends.
  • Monitor sales performance and develop and recommend adjustments to strategies.
  • Monitor and analyze key sales and business performance indicators and trends to drive strategic and tactical business decisions.
  • Contribute to the development of sales plans, objectives and forecasts.
  • Generate accurate, clear reports and explain complex patterns and trends.
  • Regularly deliver and/or present actionable information to the sales team members and leadership.
  • Create analytics tools and self-service decision support products for use within the team, including by non-technical stakeholders.
  • Build, generate and analyze reports using tools such as Excel, Power BI, etc.
Specific Key Accountabilities
  • Customer Diagnostics & Insights: Develop diagnostic capabilities and conduct analyses to understand why commercial & industrial customers choose to invest in energy efficiency, electrification and decarbonization such as adopting heat pumps and identify key drivers of these decisions.
  • Data-Driven Sales Enablement: Leverage a variety of internal and external data, develop tools and capabilities with which to provide consistent and specific data-informed recommendations to the sales team enabling them to understand customer needs and address them with targeted solutions.
  • Customer Segmentation Tools & Interactive Dashboards: Develop and maintain interactive tools and dashboards, founded upon rigorous diagnostic and propensity modeling, that provide the sales team the ability to quickly create and extract customer lists based on pre-defined use cases or chosen criteria to help them identify high-potential targets for specific opportunities.
  • Data Integration & Strategic Analysis: Integrate multiple data sources (internal customer data, external market data, AMI data, qualitative survey data, etc.) to create a holistic view of customer behavior and market opportunities and support our sales team with insights that align with broader decarbonization and electrification goals.
  • Performance Tracking & Reporting: Track key performance metrics and periodically provide actionable insights on customer engagement, campaign success, and sales team outcomes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field; Master’s degree strongly preferred
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in roles such as data analytics, business insights, commercial operations, strategic planning, and/or product management
  • Demonstrable experience with predictive modeling, statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, segmentation analysis, and/or data visualization
  • An analytical mind as well as a strong commercial acumen
  • Passion for refining general problem statements into specific and meaningful hypotheses, through execution
  • Ability to translate business needs and goals into an analytical approach and solution
  • Ability to clearly and effectively understand and communicate complex issues in a clear, simple, and compelling manner
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects under time and budget constraints. Bottom-line oriented, budget-conscious, metric/measurement driven.
  • Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams
  • Knowledge of and experience in matters of energy policy, regulation, energy efficiency and decarbonization a plus.
  • Advanced Excel skills with proficiency in PowerPoint, Word, Outlook; familiarity and experience with CRM software, especially Salesforce; knowledge of business intelligence tools a plus
  • Advanced data visualization skills and experience creating intuitive and elegant dashboards and reports using visualization tools.
More Information

Salary
$127,000 - $149,000 a year

Salary commensurate with location and experience

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
