The Role

Are you ready to join the team of software engineering experts at Kyndryl? We are seeking a talented Software Engineering Technical Specialist to contribute to our software engineering space and provide critical skills required for the development of cutting-edge products.

As a Software Engineering Technical Specialist, you will develop solutions in specific domains such as Security, Systems, Databases, Networking Solutions, and more. You will be a leader – contributing knowledge, guidance, technical expertise, and team leadership skills. Your leadership will be demonstrated in your work, to your customers, and within your teams.

You’ll be the go-to person for problem-solving of customers’ business and technical issues. You have a knack for effectively identifying and framing problems, leading the collection of elements of information, and integrating this information to produce timely and thoughtful decisions. Your aim throughout, is to improve the effectiveness, efficiency and delivery of services through the use of technology and technical methods and methodologies.

Driving the design, development, integration, delivery, and evolution of highly scalable distributed software you will integrate with other layers and offerings. You will provide deeper functionality and solutions to address customer needs. You will work closely with software engineers, architects, product managers, and partner teams to get high-quality products and features through the agile software development lifecycle.

Your continuous grooming of features/user stories to estimate, identify technical risks/dependencies and clearly communicate them to project stakeholders will ensure the features are delivered with the right quality and within timeline. You will maintain and drive the clearing of technical debt, vulnerabilities, and currency of the 3rd party components within the product.

As a Software Engineering Technical Specialist, you will also coach and mentor engineers to design and implement highly available, secure, distributed software in a scalable architecture. You are a Cloud Platform Engineer, confident working in cross functional teams, with our customers, using agile delivery. You are technology driven with deep skills and experience in realising these cutting-edge Hybrid Cloud solutions. You will work with highly skilled Cloud Architects to develop and execute complex solutions for our customers, using the latest technologies.

Working closely with the customer, our Kyndryl technical Teams, and our partners you will use your balanced mix of skills covering technologies, industry knowledge, stakeholder management, leadership, and an innovative approach to design complex solutions.

Experience of the following 

· Platform Engineering – Experience of working with other platform engineers to auto-provision IaaS and PaaS resources, to create 3 or more of the following platforms: landing zones, Kubernetes, API and integration, messaging, data, DevSecOps tooling, contact centres (AWS Connect), CRM, ERP, data and insights, low-code, identity access and machine learning.

· Cloud Migration – Experience of migrating platforms, products and applications to the cloud using an agile approach. 

· Modern Operations – Experience of auto-provisioning and using cloud native operations tooling to control and observe the platforms, products and applications running in public, private and edge cloud. Knowledge of different operations models. Experience of optimising a cloud service using FinOps and SRE. 

· Cloud Service Adoption – Experience of adopting, enhancing and optimising a customer’s cloud solution. 

· New Ways of Working – Experience of two or more of the following: DevSecOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Agile Delivery, Product-Based delivery to automate, optimise and provision cloud solutions and platforms. 

· Networking and security of cloud solutions and in particular Kubernetes.
