Kickstart your career in software development with Shape, an innovative technical consultancy at the forefront of web and mobile app development. As a Level 4 Software Development Apprentice, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across all areas of the development lifecycle, working with cutting-edge technologies like Flutter, Dart, and Python.


You will be responsible for writing clean, maintainable code that meets design standards, identifying and resolving bugs, and integrating code with various data sources. Collaborating with internal colleagues and, over time, external clients, youll apply software design patterns such as view model architecture and domain-driven design to build robust, high-quality software solutions.

In this role, youll work towards yourLevel 4 Software Development Apprenticeship, deliveredby our expert training team at Baltic Apprenticeships.


A Typical Day in the Job:

  • Working within all areas of the development lifecycle
  • Focus on front-end work, with some involvement in data pipelines. These pipelines are written in Python, allowing for the creation of data science notebooks using Python code.
  • Write logical and maintainable code to produce software solutions to meet the design and coding standards. Coding languages used include Flutter, Framework, and Dart for the frontend. Python for back end and Data science.
  • Identify and apply appropriate bug fixes such as functional errors, unit-level bugs, system-level bugs, logical errors
  • Make connections between code and data sources work on projects that involve integrating code with various data sources, allowing you to gain hands-on experience in handling, manipulating, and retrieving data within different coding environments.
  • Collaborate with customers and colleagues on projects and tasks will be mainly internal colleagues at first and then as they work, will get introduced to more third parties and clients.
  • Apply appropriate software design approaches and patterns using view model architecture for front end, domain-driven design for back end


Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and from the Baltic team.


Salary, Hours&Benefits:

  • Monday Friday 9:00 AM 5:00 PM
  • £16,000 - £20,000 Per annum (Depending on experience)
  • 28 Days of holiday + bank holidays
