‍ Job Description

We are seeking a talentedBackend Engineerto contribute to the backend development and infrastructure of our workflow automation and post-trade applications. The ideal candidate will be skilled in modern software development practices and technologies, with an interest in machine learning, and adept at building scalable cloud infrastructure. Experience in a financial institution is a plus.


Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain backend components andmicroservicesusingAWS Lambda,Step Functions, and otherserverlessarchitectures.
  • Optimise data storage and processing inPostgreSQLonAWS RDS Serverless, ensuring efficient dataaccessandretrieval.
  • Develop and maintainsecure,scalableAPIsto support frontend applications and external integrations, following best practices inAPI development.
  • Implement and managecloudinfrastructureusingTerraform, ensuring reproducibility and effective resource management.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot system performance and security, utilisingAWS CloudWatch,CloudTrail, and other monitoring tools.
  • Implementrole-based access controland secure identity management inAWS IAMfor backend services.
  • Contribute toFrontendandDevOpswhere required to support end-to-end functionality, from data ingestion toAPI deployment.
  • Maintain and enhanceCI/CD pipelineswithGitHub Actionsto streamline deployments and ensure high-quality code delivery.


Key Requirements

  • Experience:up to 3 yearsin backend development, with experience in cloud-based infrastructure (AWSpreferred).
  • Languages: Proficiency inPython and Javascript, with experience inserverlessandmicroservicesarchitectures (e.g., AWS Lambda).
  • Databases: Strong knowledge ofrelational databases, particularlyPostgreSQL, with experience in optimisation and scaling.
  • API Development: Solid experience inRESTful API design, with a focus on security and performance.
  • Cloud & Infrastructure: Hands-on experience withAWSservices (e.g.,Lambda,S3,RDS,Step Functions,CloudFront,CloudWatch,CloudTrail) and infrastructure as code using Terraform.
  • Security: Familiarity withAWSIAM, role-based access control, and secure credential management.
  • DevOps & CI/CD: Experience withCI/CD pipelines, particularlyGitHub Actions, and understanding of automated testing practices.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: A natural problem-solver who loves diving into challenges, diagnosing tricky issues, and finding smart solutions.
  • Collaboration: A team player who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys working across different areas to make an impact.
  • Must beUK-based.

⭐️ Compensation Package

  • Salary: £60,000+ base
  • Bonus:Up to 30% depending on performance
  • Shares: Options for the right candidate

  • Probation Period:3 months
