ASSISTANT GENERAL COUNSEL – TECHNOLOGY, DATA PROTECTION AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

LONDON (HYBRID WORKING – 1-2 DAYS PER WEEK IN THE OFFICE)

Role Overview:


Morgan Philips Specialist Recruitment are presently representing a world leading professional services firm in their search for an Assistant General Counsel to join their In House Legal Team. Our client is seeking an experienced commercial lawyer focused on technology, data privacy, data protection and AI. The successful candidate will deliver practical and business-focused legal advice to our business and corporate services partners on a worldwide basis.



Key Accountabilities:


  • Provide legal support on a wide range of legal and regulatory matters for a global professional services organisation.
  • Advise on technology, data privacy, data protection, AI and related matters and provide general support on other day-to-day commercial and regulatory legal matters which arise.
  • Help manage the organisation's compliance with all relevant laws and regulations in applicable jurisdictions and applicable network policies
  • Support our Technology and Risk Management teams by providing legal support for their activities
  • Help develop and implement governance and operational policies, procedures and playbooks
  • Review and advise on new services and solutions including the company governance process and specialized legal and regulatory issues focused on technology, data privacy, data protection and AI.
  • Manage external legal counsel in multiple jurisdictions and ensure work is done on a cost-effective and efficient basis.
  • Balance the need to deliver practical and business-focused advice while managing company risk appetite and compliance obligations.
  • Make presentations and write articles on important legal topics.
  • Mentor and support junior members of the team.



About You:


  • Experienced UK qualified lawyer (or equivalent if qualified outside of the UK) with significant time spent at a major law firm (other relevant in-house experience is desirable as an add-on).
  • Expert level legal skills with a demonstrated ability to lead complex legal and regulatory matters.
  • An advanced risk management and strategic mindset with the ability to quickly spot issues and recommend mitigation options that enable the business to meet our objectives without taking on unacceptable risks.
  • Expertise negotiating, drafting and reviewing transaction and commercial agreements and advising on laws and regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Able to work independently and manage complex files while also collaborating with business teams
  • Balances the needs and demands of a fast growing global business with legal and compliance risk management.
  • Self-motivated and thrives in a fast-paced environment working with many different global stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
