Ensure all your application information is up to date and in order before applying for this opportunity.

6-Month Contract | Outside IR35

We are seeking an experienced and visionary AI Strategy Consultant to join a leading investment management firm on a 6-month engagement. This is not a hands-on technical role, but a high-impact strategic advisory position focused on shaping and guiding the firm’s use of AI to enhance investment insight, operational efficiency, and long-term innovation.

Acting as a trusted partner to the investment leadership team, you will identify AI opportunities that align with business goals, translate market and technology trends into actionable strategies, and advise on solution design, tooling, and implementation paths. Your background should combine deep academic understanding and technical fluency in AI, with a proven ability to guide senior stakeholders on how to unlock value from emerging technologies.

Key Responsibilities
Serve as a strategic advisor to investment teams, identifying AI use cases with real business impact.
Evaluate current capabilities, propose AI roadmaps, and shape the firm's long-term AI adoption strategy.
Bridge the gap between technical teams and senior stakeholders, guiding them on the right tools, models, and data approaches.
Stay ahead of emerging AI trends (e.g., generative AI, NLP, automated decision-making) and assess their applicability to financial markets and investment strategies.
Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and third-party vendors to ensure solutions align with business priorities.
Promote a culture of data-driven innovation and AI literacy across the organisation.

Ideal Candidate Profile
Demonstrated experience leading AI strategy in investment management or financial services.
Strong academic credentials in AI, Machine Learning, Computer Science, or a related field (e.g., PhD or equivalent research background desirable).
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence and advise C-level stakeholders.
Deep understanding of AI/ML capabilities and their real-world applicability, particularly in the context of investment decision-making and risk management.
Experience working with or guiding technical teams (data scientists, ML engineers) and understanding key technologies (e.g., Python, NLP, LLMs), even if not building solutions directly.
Track record of delivering strategic value through technology innovation, ideally in complex, data-rich environments.

The successful candidate will not be expected to code or engineer solutions, but must understand the possibilities and limitations of AI/ML, enabling them to act as a translator between business needs and technical execution (whether in-house or outsourced).

This role is ideal for a thought leader in AI who thrives in strategic environments and enjoys working at the intersection of business, data, and technology. If you're passionate about shaping how AI transforms the future of investment management — not just building the models, but defining the vision — we’d love to hear from you.

How to Find Hidden AI Jobs in the UK Using Professional Bodies like BCS, IET & the Turing Society

When it comes to job hunting in artificial intelligence (AI), most candidates head straight to traditional job boards, LinkedIn, or recruitment agencies. That’s where professional bodies and specialist AI communities come in. In this article, we’ll explore how UK-based organisations like BCS (The Chartered Institute for IT), IET (The Institution of Engineering and Technology), and the Turing Society can help you uncover AI job opportunities you won’t find elsewhere. We'll show you how to strategically use their directories, special-interest groups (SIGs), and CPD (Continuing Professional Development) events to elevate your career and expand your AI job search in ways most job seekers overlook.
