We arelooking for a recent graduate to support the ongoing development ofnew products and contributing to the HORIZON analytical platform.You will be trained to use MSI’s econometric modelling framework togenerate market forecasts, contribute to reports and participate ina diverse range of consultancy and strategic advisory projects,across the maritime, energy and marine infrastructure sectors. Theideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a high level ofanalytical competence acquired in a research/analytical role, andideally possess knowledge or a proven deep-seated interest in atleast one of the following areas: • Commodities • Shipping • Energy• Ports • Macroeconomics • Logistics Highly motivated, they will beable to meet demanding deadlines. They will be adaptable, able tolearn quickly and work successfully both in a team and on anindividual basis. During the first year the successful candidatewill, on a quarterly basis, rotate through the main shippingsectors (oil tankers, dry bulk, containers and specialist sectors)supporting the existing sector teams. Training will be provided onthe job and the individual will have the opportunity to contributeto deliverables from day one. Following the initial year, thecandidate will subsequently have the opportunity to eitherspecialize in a single sector or take a more pan-sector role,either in the analyst, research, data or valuations team. MainResponsibilities: • Maintain and develop MSI’s proprietary shippingmarket models, updating and integrating new sources of data andadapting model architecture to changing market conditions •Contribute to regular publications, presentations, webinars, andconsultancy projects • Source, structure and interpret regularnumerical and statistical data on trade flows, vessel supply,industry earnings and asset prices • Monitor regulatorydevelopments, sector decarbonization objectives and shipping’s rolein the energy transition • Support business developmentinitiatives, product innovation and global marketing of MSIservices Experience & Education: • Enthusiasm and interest inthe maritime industry • Degree or higher in a numerate subject(e.g. Sciences, Maths, Data Science, Statistics or Economics) • Aproven analytical track record (via course work or final yeardissertation) with the ability to communicate methods and resultsclearly in written reports and presentations • The ability toensure data integrity and consistency, implementing checkingroutines and procedures • Advanced proficiency in Excel a distinctadvantage, MS Office proficiency essential MSI is widely respectedfor its maritime forecasting and business advisory services for aglobal customer base.
