In this critical role, you will be the primary advocate for our business units, ensuring that our AI strategy is always aligned with our overarching objectives and that we secure the most impactful, efficient, and future-proof AI technologies available. You'll be instrumental in identifying opportunities, evaluating vendors, and safeguarding the interests in all AI-related engagements.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic AI Alignment: Proactively engage with business leaders and stakeholders across the organisation to understand their challenges, opportunities, and strategic priorities. Translate these into clear requirements for AI solutions that drive tangible business value.

Market Intelligence & Sourcing: Continuously research and analyse the emerging AI product landscape, identifying "best-of-breed" solutions, innovative technologies, and potential partners that align with our business needs. This includes staying abreast of advancements in machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and other relevant AI domains.

Vendor Evaluation & Selection: Lead the rigorous evaluation of AI vendors and products. This involves conducting detailed comparisons, assessing technical capabilities, scalability, security, integration requirements, and total cost of ownership. You will develop comprehensive recommendations based on thorough due diligence.

Contract Negotiation & Risk Mitigation: Protect the company's interests by critically reviewing and negotiating contracts with AI vendors. You will ensure favourable terms, prevent vendor lock-in, and mitigate risks associated with data privacy, intellectual property, and long-term commitments, always bearing the business's needs first.

Business Case Development: Develop robust business cases for proposed AI initiatives, outlining potential ROI, resource requirements, and measurable success metrics.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication: Act as the primary liaison between business units and technical AI teams (internal or external). Facilitate clear communication, manage expectations, and ensure that AI solutions are designed and implemented with a deep understanding of business context.

Performance Monitoring & Optimisation: Work with relevant teams to monitor the performance of deployed AI products, ensuring they deliver on promised value and identifying opportunities for optimisation or iteration.

Ethical AI & Governance: Champion responsible AI practices, ensuring that all AI solutions align with ethical guidelines, regulatory requirements, and company values.

Qualifications

Proven Business Acumen: Demonstrated experience in a strategic business role, with a strong understanding of business operations, financial implications, and value creation.

Deep AI Understanding: Solid grasp of AI concepts, technologies, and their practical applications. While not a hands-on developer, you should be comfortable discussing technical aspects of AI and understanding its potential and limitations.

Market Savvy: Experience in market research, vendor management, procurement, or product management, particularly within the technology sector.

Negotiation Skills: Excellent negotiation and contract review skills, with a track record of securing advantageous terms.

Analytical & Critical Thinking: Exceptional analytical abilities to compare complex solutions, identify key differentiators, and make data-driven recommendations.

Communication & Influence: Superior communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

Proactive & Results-Oriented: A self-starter who can anticipate business needs, identify opportunities, and drive initiatives from concept to successful implementation.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Technology, Engineering, or a related field. An MBA or relevant Master's degree is a plus.
