AI Architect - Wireless Comms - C++/Python

Hexwired Recruitment has partnered with a pioneering engineering client pushing the boundaries in wireless communications and secure systems. Due to expansion across their innovation division, they’re now looking to hire a senior-level AI Architect with a strong background in Machine Learning and system-level development.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role within the CTO function, and you’ll be defining and delivering AI/ML strategies across mission-critical platforms - with a particular focus on wireless products, secure systems, and high-performance architecture.

You’ll join a fast-paced R&D environment where your work will directly impact next-gen technologies in communications and cyber-physical security. This role calls for a deep technical foundation across data analytics, algorithms, scalable architectures, and a proven track record delivering robust, production-grade AI solutions.

Key Skills & Experience Needed:

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in AI/ML, ideally with large-scale deployment exposure

  • Extensive C++ and Python development experience, ideally in security or comms environments

  • A solid understanding of wireless technologies, IoT systems, or cyber-physical architectures

  • Proven capability in designing AI frameworks and aligning them with real-world engineering goals

  • Strong grasp of data pipelines, algorithm optimisation, and secure model integration

  • Experience guiding tech decisions and collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams

  • Awareness of IP considerations and regulatory factors in AI deployments is highly desirable

  • Strong academic background – PhD or MSc preferred in AI, Computer Science, or related field

    What You'll Be Doing:

  • Designing and delivering long-term AI architecture across product platforms

  • Leading technical R&D into novel machine learning applications for wireless systems

  • Ensuring secure, ethical, and scalable model implementation within real-time environments

  • Collaborating closely with product, hardware, and security engineers to drive integration

  • Acting as a senior point of reference on ML best practices and algorithm design

  • Contributing to patent strategy, technical documentation, and innovation planning

    What You’ll Get:

  • Salary up to £120K depending on experience

  • Flexible remote/hybrid setup – some collaboration required on-site or with client

  • Clear progression path into CTO leadership or cross-product technical ownership

  • High-impact role working on novel engineering problems with long-term product reach

  • Exposure to state-of-the-art systems in comms, cyber, and AI innovation

This is a brilliant chance to make your mark in an environment that genuinely values deep tech and bold thinking. If you're looking to architect meaningful AI systems in a real-world setting – get in touch today.

The Future of Artificial Intelligence Jobs: Careers That Don’t Exist Yet

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has already transformed the global job market. From data scientists and machine learning engineers to AI ethicists and prompt engineers, many roles that seemed futuristic only a decade ago are now mainstream. Yet this is only the beginning. AI is progressing faster than any other technology in history, and the UK is at the forefront of its adoption, with government strategies, academic research, and private investment all accelerating growth. As generative AI, autonomous systems, robotics, and cognitive computing expand, completely new careers will emerge—jobs that don’t yet exist, but which will soon become central to how organisations, societies, and economies function. This article explores what those roles might look like, why they will matter, and how today’s professionals can prepare for careers that are still being invented.

Seasonal Hiring Peaks for AI Jobs: The Best Months to Apply & Why

The artificial intelligence sector has transformed from a niche technology field into one of the UK's most dynamic employment markets. With AI roles ranging from machine learning engineers to data scientists and AI product managers commanding average salaries between £45,000 and £120,000, timing your job search strategically can significantly impact your success rate. Understanding when companies typically hire for AI positions—and why these patterns exist—can give you a competitive edge in landing your dream role. Unlike traditional industries with predictable seasonal fluctuations, the AI job market follows distinct patterns driven by corporate budgets, educational cycles, and technological project timelines. This comprehensive guide explores the optimal months to apply for AI jobs in the UK, helping you align your career moves with industry hiring peaks.
